Mix of walking and jogging - checking controls, taking photos. 9 classes of 5th and 4th graders. 10 control score-O course. The school told me I'd have about 175 kids. I printed 250 maps. I ran a few short in the last class - probably had a total of around 260 kids.

trail building / maintenance 2:00:00 [2]

Jordan and Noa helped me clear trails at C O Harrison. We also sanded off spray paint graffiti from the bridge that OCIN juniors built a few years ago.

Mostly chainsaw and loppers. There were several downed trees across the trail, and we made quite a dent in the overhanging honeysuckle and brambles.

orienteering race 1:00:34 [4] ** 6.0 mi (10:06 / mi)
29c

Score Course at Tawawa Park. Most controls were easy to around yellow level. Lost a few seconds each in at least 3 places hesitation (map not making sense - duh), on one route choice (should have stayed low, instead did a trail that had extra climb-descent-climb), not following plan and picking up a control earlier than planned, which resulted in some extra climb. Matt Bond beat me by exactly one minute. If I had cleaned up all those mistakes, it might have been close...

distance estimated...

Follow up - The meet director announced on Monday that Matt was disqualified for crossing the forbidden river (based on control order and split times). So, I got first after all!
