Orienteering race 1:43 [3] 13.0 km (8 / km) +330m 7 / km

Very poor run from me. Disappointed in myself. I have real problems in the dark. I find night running very frustrating, because I never reach my race pace and end up being slow but not tired when I finish. I seem to have to look at the map every 20 steps because I have no confidence. My torch is dim as anything and I have be pretty much on top the control before I see it. I remember standing at 12 (169) and thinking that I was in the right place, but I couldn't see the control, I looked back and I had just run past it. Overall I messed up 1 - ran past my attack feature and didn't notice. 2 - was hard in the dark so i ended up wandering in circles and also found a tag for the control in a different depression. 6 - I left the path too soon and just wandered about until I found it. 7 - I was on an unmapped earth wall to the north. 13 - mistook the vegetation change for a different veg change. was wandering aimlessly in brashings for a while. 15 - couldn't match the open scattered trees up. Then it started getting light and everything started to make sense, so I slowly started to speed up and warm up. 17-finish was almost enjoyable even though I was feeling bad for Patrick who must have been up ages waiting for me.

Very much off night orienteering
