Orienteering race (WOC Relay) 49:00 [5] **** 7.0 km (7:00 / km) +400m 5:27 / km
shoes: VJ Panther

What a crap race and a dissapointment. After yesterday where i finally started to feel a bit better i thought i was on the way up but right from the start i was struggling today. It seemed like i didnt make any mistakes in the first part of the race (actually i did one bad route choice 30-40sec) but i was already 3min behind at the spectator control from a mix of a long split and not orienteering good enough. After this i was pretty panicky and even though i tried to be calm and run smoothly i started to do some dumb mistakes around the controls. I caught up Gonon and Tavernaro not long after but then did a little mistake straight away and lost em again, shit! After that I did two more quite big mistakes 1-2min which really capped off a crap effort. The way i felt i would have been 4 or 5 min after even with a good race but that would have been a lot better than 8 or 9 or whatever it was. What a dissapointing way to end the week, Shep didnt have a great day either but TDH ran bloody well on the last leg to haul us up to 20th. Shep and i consoled ourselves by continuing the tradition of a bit of banquet cricket, but the highlight of the day was the girls team getting 4th, an awesome effort!

Orienteering race (WOC middle final) 39:41 [5] **** 6.1 km (6:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

24th, approx 3.50 behind Holger who won.
I had a lot of problems to get into any kind of rythm at the start and after two shaky controls on the 3rd i did quite a big mistake - 45 or 50 sec and this woke me up a bit. After that it was uphill and the orienteering went a bit slower so i got into a groove and started to run pretty well through to the spectator control. It was the most technical section after the spectator control and already on the 2nd control in this area I did a mistake again maybe 30 sec but after that it was pretty smooth, 1 bad route choice through some head high bracken and a bit of a swing into another control cost maybe 30sec together so at the absolute best i could have been 2min better. I am pretty satisfied anyway esp considering how the week was, just slowly getting better. Time for the relay now!

Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike zoom elite

A bunch jog with all the aussie boys inc brett as well as will smith and boris. I felt quite good this morning and i ran 90sec, 60sec, 30sec 15sec with equal recovery in the middle of the run as a bit of a sharpener for tomorrow. Started to feel ok towards the end so i hope the legs have woken up from their sleep over the last 10 days. Team meeting now, better go.

Orienteering 35:00 [4] **** 5.0 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Ran a short training on a middle distance style area. Eric put out some controls and set a course for jo shep tdh and myself which was good. I ran about 20min at a tempo pace (10min and 5min each warming up and down at the start and end of the course and the orienteering was ok but pretty stop start in a few places. It was very low visibility and slow running also in a few places in the forest which made it hard to keep a good rythm. Physically i didnt feel great so that better improve if i am gunna do a good race on fri but anyway i think the most important wil be to be smooth technically.

Orienteering 35:00 [3] *** 6.0 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: VJ Integrator 2

I didnt feel too bad this morning but still not 100% and when i ran i stil felt pretty crap and heavy.
I ran the relay model course and tried to run with a bit more speed than the last few days to see how i was. At least the orienteering was smooth so that is a good sign if i can start feeling good by friday.
Heading out to watch the sprint finals this arvo, hopefully the aussies get as fired up as brett did after he got tdh reinstated for the finals.
