Sunday Aug 19

Orienteering 30:00 [3]**** 4.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Helly Hansen trail
Middle distance model event. Drew a course and ran round it. It was flatter and greener than the other middle areas we have run on and will be pretty tricky if it is like that. Anyway went quite ok technically, couple of small hesitations but generally good.

Saturday Aug 18

Orienteering race 14:00 [5]3 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther
Sprint Qual. 16th place so just missed the final. Sterted pretty bad with no rythm and stop start without doing a big missand then did a 30sec mistake on the 4th control. Got going a bit better after this but never ran really good in the forest parts which was most of the course.

warming up and down, got bitten on the calf by a wasp just before i started which bloody hurt but cant say i noticed it when i was racing, it hurts now though.

Morning jog round the streets of kiev, it was smoggy.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]** 4 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Helly Hansen trail
Sprint model event. Drew a course and ran around it. Went ok, pretty variable green and pretty hot.

Thursday Aug 16

Running with Boris on small paths and roads. Not long till we head off for kiev now.

Wednesday Aug 15

Orienteering 19:00 [5]*** 4 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Helly Hansen trail
Ran a sprint course on the castle map that Mats Troeng set for Boris and I, it was great to run a course i hadnt seen, Al even put out some streamers for us. Some good route choices and a few tricky short ones. Went pretty well, no real misses, had 16.13 - a good last hard training.
Afterwards ran 5 x 30sec with a long jog recovery as a bit of a sharpener. Felt ok.

Warming up and down with Shep and Boris. Nearly got attacked by the giant kid eating lilies in the botanic gardens.

Tuesday Aug 14

A 85min run including 30 min of orienteering on the Uppsala åsen map. Ran home via gula stigen. Tested out the new helly hansen trail shoes today, not to bad, i reckon they will be good orienteering in aus, might even wear em at woc.

A short course on the uppsalaåsen map as part of the long run. A lot of controls to train running in and out of controls and in some green shitty forest to train using the compass in this and toughen me up a bit with a few nettles before the weekend. Good technically even though it was pretty simple.

Finally got rid of the forest aids on my arm that i picked up at oringen. The old nappy rash zinc cream was what did the trick in the end. Also found a new flavour of the proviva drink, rasberry, it is great but still not as good as mango, watermelon is the worst flavour.

A recovery jog after the race yesterday. Jeez i felt awesome today even though i wasnt going that fast i usually feel the worst on these type of runs. Either a) i am about to get sick and it was a förkyllningslöp, b) it was a freak day and i will feel heavy again tomorrow or c) the hayfever crap is gone and the form is coming back right on time. Hope its C.

Also today i went to the dentist, he tried to pull a sneaky and pull out my wisdom teeth but there was no way i was letting him do that a week before woc so i told him to find a hole and fill it instead. He did and i didnt even feel that bad afterwards. The only bad thing that happened today was that Eko was closed so i couldnt go there for lunch.
