Running 49:51 [3] 8.6 km (5:48 / km) +20m 5:44 / km
shoes: Saucony Kinvara 5

More beat boxing. Slightly overestimated this one and ended up cutting it a bit fine for the start of class.

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [2]

Reformer. Serious leg class today, I think Angus did it on purpose cos he knew we'd been running. The lunge set nearly killed me.

Running 40:53 [3] 6.86 km (5:58 / km) +40m 5:47 / km
shoes: Saucony Kinvara 5

More beat box-ing, hoovered up the Stranmillis/Queens/Malone area but couldn't find one of the boxes. I may now also be ahead of Susan on points.....

Running 58:26 [3] 10.21 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Saucony Kinvara 5

Beat the street with Susan. This is going to get very competitive very quickly. Although sticking together in the dodgy areas sounds good.

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [2]

Barre

Strength and Conditioning 1:00:00 [2]

Tribal. Only a couple of coughing fits and def wasn't pushing on the running sections but generally I felt pretty good

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.8 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4 (Red)

Running race 49:44 [5] 9.91 km (5:01 / km) +235m 4:29 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4 (Red)

Causeway Coast 10k. Chest didn't feel great when I woke up so decided to take the start slightly easier this year in the hopes that I wouldn't suffer as badly in the first couple of k. Weather (windy) and terrain (muddy) didn't seem conducive to a fast time so I tried not to worry about it too much. Set off in a pack with 2 other girls and we were nearly taken out on the first hill by a man doing a bambi on ice impression coming backwards down it, as he had no grip.... 1st girl then pulled away and it was pointless chasing her. The other girl and I settled in, she overtook and then slowed right down so I went past and tried to push the pace a bit. She sat on my shoulder for about 4.5k and then left me for dead! As usual the second half was much nicer and I got a second wind but it wasn't enough to catch any of the other 10k-ers. But, 30s faster than last year, 3rd female and 7th overall so I'm happy enough. Maybe I need mud and rain every year :)

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [2]

Barre with Yvie tonight, she introduced a very short dance routine into it. Not my forte. I'm just glad we made it through without taking anyone out! Not as tough as Fallons class, but still good

Strength and Conditioning (Tribal) 1:00:00 [2]

Monday Sep 19, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 4:00 [1] 0.6 km (6:40 / km)

Very brief warm up across the track and up to the pitches

Running intervals 27:11 [5] 6.65 km (4:05 / km)
shoes: Saucony Kinvara 5

3 x 2 mins (1min), 3 mins (1.5), 4 mins (2) - certainly not the easiest session to come back to but being on the grass made it easier. Glad to be back but now need to get back into the habit

Running warm up/down 4:30 [2] 0.7 km (6:26 / km)

Wee walk/jog back to the car

Sunday Sep 18, 2016 #

Running 28:37 [3] 5.29 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: Saucony Kinvara 5

Forced myself out round the road loop - and managed to avoid the rain!

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [2]

Reformer. First big girl class. Ouchies. Quite a bit tougher than beginners, I'm gonna hurt tomorrow.

Running warm up/down 18:00 [2] 2.5 km (7:12 / km)

Warm up round the pitches plus some drills. Cool down round pitches again

Orienteering 22:54 [3] 3.81 km (6:01 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4 (Red)

O training in Queens, 2 controls each and when you've planned your route into 2 hand the map over. Good fun although some routes were rather hindered by most of the park being blocked off!
7 PM

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [2]

Barre with Fallon. Seriously worked the quads tonight and I need to work on my hip flexor strength as they weren't all that happy.

Strength and Conditioning 1:00:00 [2]

Tribal. Tricia and I spent more time giggling than actually doing anything tonight, so I made a bit of an effort to push in the running section at the end. Also got 10 punishment burpees for counting when Holz said 12s to go, and then pointed out it was more like 20....

Strength and Conditioning 1:00:00 [2]

Tribal. Death by squats and lunges, I'll be feeling those in the morning.

Orienteering 43:12 [4] 5.3 km (8:09 / km) +65m 7:41 / km

Fun blast around Hillsborough, well as much of a blast as my knackered legs could manage. Still managed to drop ~3 mins on 11-13 but generally happy with my run.

Running warm up/down 29:26 [2] 3.79 km (7:46 / km) +40m 7:23 / km

Control collecting

Running warm up/down 14:00 [2] 1.0 km (14:00 / km) +200m 7:00 / km

Orienteering race 2:09:32 [3] 10.89 km (11:54 / km) +200m 10:54 / km

Erm, well this didn't exactly go to plan. But not really sure what I was expecting as I have done very few long or terrain runs in the last couple of months. Hesitant into 1 due to a sheep track that looked very like a path, got pulled off by a couple of people and the fog into to 2 (~4 mins), hesitant into 3, fine into 4. Was following the fence into 5 but fence disappeared early so I turned in early. Realised it pretty quickly and corrected through the light green to get to it(~2 mins). Bit off to 6 (thanks Aoife for pointing me in the correct direction). Fine but slow into 7, turned into the green waaaay too early for 8 and lost a load of time wandering through it until I eventually came back out to the ride and attacked it properly (~4 mins). 9 was a disaster, not sure what went wrong, I thought I had a decent line and ap, but I just missed the control. Wandered around for a bit and eventually came across 10 and was able to relocate from there (~8 mins). 10 was grand (having been there before) but everything went out of the window to 11. Had a plan, didn't even start out on it. Meant to go out to the big track but wandered round the little ones, and then couldn't work out where to drop off the path (~3 mins). Rest of the course was pretty good, but very slow. So a solid 20 mins or more of mistakes.

I actually really enjoyed the course and the run but I really need to work on my terrain strength before the SHI, cos I was really suffering out there.

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [1]

Reformer. Well this hurt more than I expected it to, turns out 2.5 weeks without strength work really does set you back a few weeks. Fun times with the box and jump boards though :)
