Running warm up/down 8:36 [1] 1.46 km (5:53 / km)
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Orienteering race 21:01 [4] 4.23 km (4:58 / km)

Craigavon Selection Sprint, took this one as hard as the Achilles would let me - think I was pretty much clean but I really struggled on the fitness (and pain) front

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [1]

Reformer - sweaty session tonight the studio was an absolute sauna

Thursday May 25, 2017 #

Cycling 34:12 [3] 10.68 km (3:12 / km)
(injured)

Figure of eight road loop from home, with a dash back home in the middle to get the dinner out of the oven.

Note

So looks like its an insertional Achilles injury - no ice, no brufen, no stretching but lots of eccentric exercises.

Wednesday May 24, 2017 #

Running warm up/down 5:00 [1] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Orienteering 47:15 [3] 6.48 km (7:17 / km)
(injured) shoes: Saucony Ride 9

WEE 4. Stormont - I wasn't going to be able to run hard so I took the map memory option. 6 maps spaced equally along the Avenue, so to avoid massive amounts of extra distance or climb you needed to remember 5 or more controls with each look. Occasionally I got myself into the general vicinity and luckily was passed by someone with a map so just followed them in to the control! Lost time on 13 - had simplified too much and got confused by the path network. 14 I only had a vague idea of where it was and instead of committing to it I dithered and then took on extra climb and distance to reach it. 15 hadn't really looked at how to approach it and ended up at 17 first, but for that I was trying to remember 7 controls + the finish to get me home in a one-r

Achilles was pretty unhappy for this, even running slowly - hopefully Adam can fix me tonight.

Cycling 45:00 [4]

Sweat-fest

Sunday May 21, 2017 #

Note
(injured)

Decided to take the weekend off - only walking the dog, in order to give my ankle/achilles/calf a proper rest. Somehow it has made it worse..... Booked into see the Podiatrist on Thursday to see if he can figure out whats going on

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [1]

Reformer!! So good to be back - but boy did it hurt. Serious leg set today, long scrambled egg set into lunges, scooters, flying lunges and single leg deadlifts to finish. Ouchies

Thursday May 18, 2017 #

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Had a particularly painful sports massage today, but thankfully Steve thinks that its not my Achilles that's the problem but my calf/ankle. Lots of stretching and strengthening for me over the next wee while.

Wednesday May 17, 2017 #

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Orienteering race 32:04 [4] 5.5 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Great sprint training in Craigavon. It took a while for my brain to switch on to the fact this was not a simple sprint, so a lot of hesitations and mistakes through the first couple of controls. Susan was running much more smoothly through the first 10 controls - I'd get ahead and then have to stop to figure out what level to be on and she would arrive behind me again.

Distance is a bit of a guess as my garmin is currently throwing a hissy fit. I tried to sync it yesterday, it refused to sync and is now showing me my run screens in nautical miles...... Really hoping it doesn't need a factory reset as I would like my Estonia tracks.

Cycling 45:00 [4]

Spin. Tried a different class this time - this one was almost enjoyable. 10 peak challenge, add resistance for each peak, never take it off. The last couple were tough!

Monday May 15, 2017 #

Note
(rest day)

Achilles not happy so switched tomorrows rest day to today and booked into a spin class (ugh) tomorrow

Sunday May 14, 2017 #

Note
(rest day)

Long day travelling home

Saturday May 13, 2017 #

Running warm up/down 9:33 [2] 1.56 km (6:07 / km)

Orienteering race 1:05:59 [4] 6.24 km (10:34 / km) +120m 9:39 / km

WOC Test Middle. Turns out I have no terrain or hill strength! Really hesitant onto 1 and ended up at 4 before 3 having turned in too early. Mostly the navigation was fine, although one poor route choice led to me fighting my way through the green. Just need to work on terrain strength (and sorting out my Achilles)

Friday May 12, 2017 #

Running warm up/down 15:24 [2] 2.78 km (5:32 / km)
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Orienteering race 20:59 [5] 3.81 km (5:30 / km) +50m 5:10 / km
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

WOC Test Sprint. Achilles wasn't happy in the warm up so I knew I was going to struggle a little bit. Nav was generally good but got pulled off my bad route to 9 (up the hill) onto a worse route (through the rough open) and lost 30s or so. Too many hesitations though, need to work on planning ahead and control flow.

Running warm up/down 8:35 [1] 1.33 km (6:27 / km)
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Orienteering 46:57 [3] 3.75 km (12:31 / km) +90m 11:11 / km

Headed down to the training with Roar for an easy jog through the forest. Started off ok but made a huge error when crossing the marsh - thought I'd crossed at one point but had crossed it miles away and lost 8 mins or so having a bit of a wander. But it was good to get out into a forest again.

Wednesday May 10, 2017 #

Note

Long travelling day - got as far as Riga

Monday May 8, 2017 #

Running warm up/down 6:02 [2] 0.95 km (6:21 / km)

Jog over to the bowl

Running intervals 6:00 [5] 1.4 km (4:17 / km) +20m 4:00 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4 (Red)

Only managed the first couple of reps tonight. Session was supposed to be 4 x 1.5 mins, 3 x 2.5, 2 x 3.5 and 1 x 4.5 but my Achilles was struggling with even the slightest uphill so I abandoned after the first set and spent the rest of the time stretching.

Running 7:12 [1] 0.9 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4 (Red)

Very slow jog back to the car

Saturday May 6, 2017 #
