Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Kinvara 4

So my 15-20min warm up didn't happen due to the chaos that was the organisation for the B-Final. We turned up and couldn't see any details as to quarantine so headed over to the start to pick up bibs and find out where we needed to go. We were sent round to quarantine but when we got there we were told it was only for the A-Final so headed back round to the start to dump bags and get changed and ready to run. We were then told off for where we were changing and shepherded back round into the A-Final quarantine. We eventually just dumped our bags in the car and went back to the start. I managed a tiny but of running and a few stretches before I started and I wasn't exactly in the best headspace for the race ahead.

B-Final, estimated course distance and given climb. This race was soo much better than the quali for me, and im not sure why, I was def not in a good headspace before I started, I was super angry by the time I was starting, to the point I that the starter was a little scared of me and so handed me my control descriptions about 30s earlier than anyone else got them :)

The race itself was pretty clean, an error to 3 where I went the wrong way to the control and made a mistake whilst I was running the route lost me about 45s. Other than that it was clean, the hills killed me but that was expected. 14th Overall so pretty happy with that, improve my fitness and hopefully improve the results.

Sprint Quali, Heat 2, distance is an estimate and climb is course climb. Took a approach today, in that I tried to remain as calm as possible before starting instead of getting myself worked up.

This seemed to work initially at least, the first few controls felt good although the uphills were a killer and that was just the first few controls! I missed the fastest route to 6 ended up going down the spiral staircase which was slow esp if you only take 1 stair at a time! Again the hill to 10 nearly killed me physically had to stop and climb up the wall to get to the control, no nimble jump from me....

Again the next few controls were good I felt like I was flowing through them (they were downhill) and then came 14, I had a total brain meltdown, I navigated to the control checked the code on the way in, reached the control and thought that's not mine, so panicked slightly and ran down road a bit, checked my codes again and misread the code and thought t was in fact my fifteen, 2.5mins later and I finally realised my mistake and went back to my control and punched it. The rest of the course was straightforward enough but I was just sooo pissed off with myself for being a total idiot!

Apart from that one error it seemed to be going pretty well, I reckon with a bit more hill fitness and code reading practice I suspect it is fixable!

Running warm up/down 6:00 [1] 0.8 km (7:30 / km)

Warm down on the boardwalk with Regina

Note

So taking a look at the splits I think I was a bit too relaxed at the start and therefore didn't attack the course properly. I need to find a balance between being relaxed and yet still be able to turn on my competitiveness once I'm on the course....

Took it easy and messed around a bit tonight, thankfully it was more upper body and core so the legs got a bit of a rest :)
