Skiing 30:00 [3]

Trying out the giant treadmill ski slope at We Are Vertigo. It was really good fun although incredibly easy to catch an edge and fall over. It was an odd sensation skiing on a carpet and the first 15 mins were spent purely in snow plough which was unusual but I was just about getting the hang of proper skiing by the end. It certainly made any bad habits abundantly clear - must work on keeping upper body still in the future.

Ballyclare XC 3 miler. First cross country race and I was working with half a lung so I was slightly worried about how I was going to cope running flat out but generally I was ok. Just tried to stick to the other LVAC runners at the start and then settled into a rhythm trying to take some of the others on the uphill section and then tried to let rip on the tiny downhill. As I was about half way round the final lap John yelled that there was a massive gap between me and the girls behind me so just attack up the final hill. Managed to pass one guy on the hill and another on the run in and then had a massive coughing fit. All in all pretty happy with my first race.

Running 8:51 [2] 1.2 mi (7:23 / mi)

Orienteering 26:25 [4] 4.66 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine Green

WENT 5 Musgrave. Good battle with Pete and Sid tonight with the lead changing multiple times (McCloy was miles ahead), they are both faster but I got the advantage though a few route choices and knowing about the hole in the tennis court fence. The both overtook me going to the final control but then completely overshot the finish which gave me the win :)

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Running up and down unlocking and relocking gates

Running intervals 24:30 [4] 6.11 km (4:01 / km)
shoes: Saucony Kinvara 4

4 mins down to 3 at 10s intervals. First lap was at 1.47 which was a bit of a shock to the system after that got my act together and was hitting 97 fairly consistently. The last couple were a really struggle but generally I felt quite good.
