Orienteering race 1:35:52 [4] 9.33 km (10:17 / km) +120m 9:39 / km

NICS 7 Tyrella South. Firstly a massive thank you to Susan and PhilS who kept the start open and didn't collect the controls on me after the ID debacle. Made a mistake out of the start, I came up over the hill and instead of heading down to the big stile I ran towards the fence corner and I couldn't climb it so I went up to the next stile loosing some time. Had a bit of difficultly finding 2, firstly I hit 6 then I didn't far enough to see 2, a small bit of faffing ensued before I spotted the control. 3 was grand, just headed for the gully and used it as my attackpoint. Bit a of wobble to 4 getting pushed further left than I had intended. Having visited 6 on the way to 2 I then visited 2 on the way back to 6. Found I got into the map a lot better from here and felt pretty smooth through the next few controls. Got stuck in the gorse at 10 and 14 and then was standing on the wrong side of the bush for 20 and lost about a minute trying to work out what I had done. Didn't spot the first path on the map going to 24 so stopped short trying to work out why the control wasn't on the hill I was standing on. Then spotted the other path and sheepishly ran about 30m to the control.....

It was a great course and a lot of fun, really keeping us in the technical area of the dunes which I loved - Thanks Susan!

Same as 2 weeks ago 6 x Malone Hill reps with walk recovery. Had considered doing 8 but my legs and quads in particular are really tired at the moment. Almost had to crawl up the last rep. Reps were 63-65 so slightly slower than last time.

WENT 1 Ormeau. It was good fun to be back doing night-o even if my nav was a tad dodgy at times. Messed up my number 2 (control 5) as I was planning the rest of my routes and failed to notice which hedge I needed to go to. Lost a wee bit of time at 12, coming into the wrong patch of white, hitting the path and then taking a while to figure out a decent attackpoint to come back into it. Lost concentration coming back from 3 and ended up standing at 15 wondering what I had done, took a bearing and headed back over to 1 to pick up the bonus points.

8 x 3.15 with a 2 min rest between reps. I felt pretty good tonight with the first few reps I was hitting over 800m and first laps were about 93s. Had a slight problem with the number 6 when both my pacers were struggling, Trevor pulled it back in the last 2 which were a bit fast but I just about hold on.
