Running hills 1:14:47 [5] 6.9 km (10:50 / km) +530m 7:50 / km

H&D 6, Loughshannagh Horseshoe. Boy this one was a toughie. Legs were knackered before I had even started so I started walking really early on as we headed up Ott. Managed to push on a bit off the top of Ott and passed a few people who were falling into marshes. The ascent of Loughshannagh was absolute hell, my calves were in agony to the point that I considered packing it in at the top. Thought it was going to be tight to get across and up Doan before the 39 min cut off, but was banking on the downhill giving me a bit of respite (calves) and allow me to claw so time back. Oh how I was wrong. I pansied down that hill, it was much steeper and rougher than I was imagining. Pretty much had to crawl up the last part of Doan, to arrive at the top at 37.50 . Again the decent wasn't much fun - it was really churned up and slippery. Picked up a couple of places running along the reservoir and another couple going up Carn. Had to work hard to reel in one girl on the decent back to the carpark but eventually got her on the grassy track.

Would like to try this again sometime when my legs aren't fecked as I enjoyed tonight in a sadistic kinda way.

Orienteering 30:32 [3] 4.82 km (6:20 / km) +30m 6:09 / km

WEE 3 Dixon. Wasn't really ready to start but got ushered up the speedy boarding line so was out within about 30s of arriving at the start. Promptly messed up the first control getting my direction slightly wrong. Was grand through the next couple and then lost 2 minutes at number 8 (one of the easier controls), didnt look at my compass and got the map slightly twisted so ended up at the wrong path corner. sigh. The rest of the course was fine, a little hesitant into 13 as the map was a tad dodgy, there were def more trees than the map led you to believe. But carrying on with the current theme, I just had nothing in my legs. At some point I need to rest them.
