Running warm up/down 9:47 [1] 1.1 km (8:54 / km)

Orienteering race 2:30:37 [3] 11.14 km (13:31 / km) +380m 11:33 / km

Munster Champs, W21E. Well this was a bit more of an epic than I was anticipating. Forgot to take a gel with me and the refreshment control had no water at it. Was feeling a tad delirious by the end. Slow through the control pick at the start and then initially got caught in the green going on the long leg, lost about 5 mins faffing in the gorse. I didn't see the low flatter route - if I had I would have taken it for sure! Having been out for an hour by 8 I new it was going to be a long day in the office, so I just tried to keep moving, running wherever I could. Small mistakes to 10, 14 and 15 and then binned more than 5 mins to 17 - it just did not make sense to me. From here I was pretty much clean, I was just counting off controls to the finish.

Note

For about the last half hour of the course my right glute started to be quite uncomfortable, but after I finished it felt fine so I assumed it was just tiredness. 4 1/2 hours in a motorhome later and walking was very painful and even sitting down was a struggle. Painkillers and a wheat bag seemed to help it ease off but still not great.

Note
(rest day)

Saw the doc in the morning and have antibiotics for my sinuses. Then saw Steve the masseuse at lunch and he levelled my hips again - right one had rotated slightly. He recommended not taking on spin tonight so it’s a rest day - hip was still pretty achy by bed :(

Running warm up/down 9:28 [2] 1.45 km (6:32 / km)

Both feet seized up on the first couple of strides which was fun but thankfully the returned to normal pretty quickly

Orienteering 31:57 [5] 5.92 km (5:24 / km) +20m 5:18 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4 (Red)

WENT 3. Queen’s and Botanic. No snooker tonight as the park doesn’t lend itself to the format, so 4 loops but the maps were gaffled so after the crazy mass start I didn’t relay see too many people. Managed to be on the same gaffle as RichardV and was navigating a bit more cleanly so he wasn’t getting away through the first 2 loops. Then my lungs couldn’t keep up. Lost about 45s through the second 2 loops, which given the lack of speed work recently isnt too bad

Running 10:00 [2] 1.2 km (8:20 / km)
