What a gorgeous day to finally be out in the woods. And I will say it got a tad bit warm around noon, but that isn't an official complaint.
I was hoping/praying to be under 4 hours, thanks to my awesome nutrition and sleep program the last couple weeks (not!). I knew I should be eating more/better the last few days, but my stomach usually has a knot in it from the stress of harvest. And sleep hasn't been plentiful, especially the last couple nights. But I was SO happy to be out there in the woods!
My right IT band got grumpy about half way through, which wasn't a surprise. And I got quite hungry about then too, so I was glad for the yummy granola bar in my pack. I topped up a water bottle at an aid station but didn't like the taste of the water (sitting in the water jug too long?) so probably didn't drink enough after that. Aid station 3.5 had a Caribbean theme this year.....the shot glass of margarita did not have a funny taste to it. In hindsight, I should've two-fisted it. My watch died with about 4k to go. As it was, that last 5k was harder to my worn-out legs than the previous 20.
No post race massage this year :(, but the swag included an entry ticket to the London Columbia outlet with "friends and family" pricing.
