North side of Manitoulin Island.
Launched at Cook's Dock which is a Government of Canada small craft dock. There was a commercial fishing boat tied up there and a couple trucks and trailers of folks with motorized fishing boats. Nothing else. Just blue water all around.
Paddled along the shore to the north and west......very similar terrain to the east side of the Bruce Peninsula near Cape Crocker (well, it is the same land formation after all!)
Then I wet a line, multiple times, but the fish weren't buying what I was selling. One of the motorized fishing boats came in and they had been out in the North Channel proper, fishing for salmon. They aren't having fresh caught fish for supper either.
But as the expression goes, a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.
