Trekking (trail) 1:11:00 [3] 3.1 mi (22:54 / mi)

I travelled to Sudbury for the weekend to see my son (and the rocks, and the trees, and the lakes.....). I got into some terrible whiteout conditions just south of Parry Sound late Friday night, so spent a few hours dozing in my car at the service station. Turns out the highway was closed north of Grundy Lake Provincial Park, so even if I had forged on, I probably would have spent a lot of time parked on the highway.
I had originally thought of jogging the 10 km loop around Lake Laurentian, but once I got out on the trail, a hike seemed like a better idea. Ice and snow made for some dicey traction, and with the prevalence of rock faces, putting on microspikes seemed like inviting fingernails to run down a chalkboard. My poles were handy. Chickadees saluted me along the way.
