We missed the snow...just enough wet snow to make a glaze on the sidewalks. I was very disappointed when I got up this morning.

Almost done the Spine Challenger distance event.....mathematically, I am at or near Hawes, the home of Wensleydale Cheese. Paul and I camped just outside of Hawes and walked into town for supper at a pub. I had run out of gas that day (a beer and chips (french fries) was not a proper lunch for a day that consisted of riding up, up and up some of the Yorkshire hills that had been featured in the early days of the Tour de France when it started in Yorkshire a few years ago), so I was grateful for the warm bowl of cream of mushroom soup to start the meal. Many of the locals had their dogs with them in the pub, and there was only one fight (between dogs). Some of the mainline grocery stores around here carry the Wensleydale cheese, so despite my fierce loyalty to the Little Blue Cow (Canadian) dairy products, I do indulge in some special cheese from this lovely bit of Yorkshire from time to time.

Meanwhile, back in Kingsville Ontario, the sidewalks were slippery so I walked on the streets quite often. Very little traffic even here in town, so dodging cars wasn't a concern. And here I was worried about slippery conditions while biking on the Greenway.
