Touring Bike (Greenway) 1:10:00 [3] 18.6 mi (15.9 mph)

First ride on the touring bike since the UK. Well, I just reassembled it last night.
Got home from work and was wiped out, physically and mentally, but it was still daylight....barely. The couch was calling but I resisted, grabbed a cold piece of pizza, my lights, and set off. Many migrant workers biking to and from town, and some enjoying one last mild evening as they, umm, rested, along the trail. Don't blame them one bit.
Rode up to the top of Mt Erieview. Odd to be picking tiny bugs out of my eyes the first week of November.
Glad I went out for a ride.

Cyclocross 15:13 [3] 1.3 mi (5.1 mph)
ahr:138

How many times have I gotten to a bike race, and wished I brought a different bike? Today I brought both my mountain bike and my CX bike. Well, I got home late last night and didn't take the mountain bike off the car. Paul had put the knobby tires on my CX bike last night for me, after chatting with someone who was in the know about the course. And then it rained 1/2" overnight. And more was coming.

Prerode the local CX course on my CX bike.

Walked back to the car and got the mountain bike.

Mountain biking race (Cyclocross race) 34:00 intensity: (15:00 @4) + (19:00 @5) 3.8 mi (6.7 mph)

The mountain bike was a good call. Even though it is Essex County, there was a hill that we made the most of. Straight up, zig zag down with a sharp turn to avoid sliding into the pond, zig zag up, hair pin turn and straight down, then a run up a greasy hill, and down again. There was a ditch at the back of the property that we traversed a few times, lots of mud, a couple straight stretches though the pines, more mud, more sharp turns, one barrier..... An excellent course for maybe 2-3 acres of property.
This was at D and R's place, and like a good hostess, she let me lead the way for the first lap then passed me and lead the 2nd and 3rd laps and went on to win. 2 women were behind me, so I got 2, 6 packs for my troubles. Smaller than usual field today.....I think there's an O Cup event this weekend and I suppose the rain put some people off.

I took some pics of the A race (the fast boys) and I think mountain bikes came in 1st and 2nd.
