Gravel Bike 2:15:00 [3] 26.2 mi (11.6 mph)

Rain at 4 pm meant I was done work early!
The wind certainly didn't die down as the rain went through. About 8:30 pm, Paul and I set off on the Greenway with the intent to ride in the dark. And when we were tired (I have been stumbling into bed by 9:30 lately, so this was a very late night for me).
I will mention that hearing the BOOM of fireworks close to the trail (before I clued in to the source of the noise) was startling (I am sure Queen Victoria was honoured, as usual).
Clear safety glasses without an anti glare coating this time did the trick. Paul's Bontrager handlebar light made it look like a train was coming down the trail, but like all bike/hiking lights, it wears down the juice exponentially quickly at the top brightness. One setting lower works fine too. I had put Paul's Light&Motion light on my helmet (hadn't tried it out that way yet) and it is fine, but not as strong as my heavier Seras light.

Restorative (for the soul) gardening time in the twilight.

Spin class 55:00 [3]

We got the last 2 bikes (may have or may not have used our hockey elbowing skills). So we were out of the range of the fans tonight. Sweat city. Call it heat training!

Note

Slow roll night.....if you ride easy by yourself, can you call it a Slow Roll?
The Flintridge tires are on the Warbird now, so I rode around and around town, willing the fluid to work its way into all the crevices. Got a backpack full of groceries while I was out and about......feeding an almost-19 year old is a full time job.

Touring Bike (Rail trail/Gravel/Pavemen) 4:15:00 [3] 52.5 mi (12.4 mph)

Our racing steeds were at the spa, so we broke out our touring/ver. 2.0 gravel bikes (they were complaining that they were neglected anyways).
North on Division, NW on S. Talbot Road, then WSW on the new rail trail to Amherstburg. We played tourist and rode down to Navy Park, then back along S. Side Road, 6th Concession, and the Greenway back to Kingsville.
And it was finally spring temperatures! It didn't get frightfully cold as we neared the water, the sun was shining, and although the wind was strong enough from the N/NW, it wasn't frightfully cold.
This is a BIG birding weekend at Point Pelee. But we saw a lot of misc. warblers along our route (26 different species have been identified at the Point!), 3 Baltimore Orioles chasing each other, a mama wild turkey, assorted pairs of cardinals, blue jays, brown thrashers and swallows. And who knows what other un-named birds darted along our route too.
