Spin class 50:00 [3]

Into the wind.

Note

I compared my wrist watch Garmin Forerunner 35 heart rate recording to my chest strap Lezyne system during spin class today. I have noticed that the watch will show the odd, and short term, (say, 1 or 2 times per spin class) drop on HR (ie from 120 to 90 and back to 120), presumably because the watch has slipped a bit on my wrist. But other than that, each time I checked the two systems, they were within 1 or 2 BPM.
Garmin said the wrist system was accurate, and compared to the Lezyne system, I will certainly agree.

Hockey 30:00 [3]

Hill Work (Snowshoeing) 30:00 [3] 1.77 km (16:57 / km)

Stomped up and down the steepest hills in the park. There is a crust on the snow so there was a constant cascade of icy bits sliding down the hills. About 4-6" deep with the snowshoes on.

Jogging (snowy paths) 15:00 [3] 1.8 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: Speed Cross

Right after snowshoeing, put the SpeedCross on for a ginger trot around the snowy/icy paths in the park.

Note

Then I tried skiing on the Greenway (breaking trail), but the ice layer seemed to be trying to slice through my ski boots.

Hockey 30:00 [3]

Team Canada probably wasn't scouting at our game tonight, but we played our best.

XC Skiing (tracks) 29:14 [3] 3.83 km (7.9 kph)

The best track I have ever seen at the Point. Skied the Centennial Trail from the Marsh parking lot down to where it turns inland to the O-Tent-Niks.

XC Skiing (adventure skiing) 1:08:00 [3] 7.57 km (6.7 kph)

Broke trail along the seasonal footpaths and one of the parking lots along the beach. Then along the trampled trail south of the visitor's centre, and headed north again, with the last quarter on the nice track on the Centennial Trail. It started to precipitate in the form of ice pellets, then switched to rain. I met one person out there who was being somewhat towed by their dog.

Really the best skiing I have ever experienced at the Point.
8 AM

Spin class 1:20:00 [3]

I got to the gym early and had already been sweating for a half an hour when the instructor got the class rolling. Intervals, quick changes between standing and sitting.....more sweating......

Trekking (snowy streets) 15:00 [3] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

I didn't take a snow day from work......such dedication. Bleh.
Figure 8 walk around the blocks after supper.

XC Skiing 15:00 [3]

2 laps of the soccer fields in the dark. A lot windier than last time so my hands got cold (that's unusual for me), so I packed it in.

Trekking (snowy streets) 18:00 [3] 1.0 mi (18:00 / mi)

The figure 8 lap of the blocks behind us, wearing the appropriate gear!

Note

Blood donor night.
As O negative, I really hope that other O negatives are giving blood too so that if I ever need some, it will be there for me.

XC Skiing 25:00 [3] 2.3 km (5.5 kph)

A few easy laps of the soccer fields, mostly legs.
