'Cross training' (Ball hockey) 45:00 [3]

Running around concrete. Inside. Getting whacked on the shins with hockey sticks. What's not to love?

Adventure Bike long 9:48:00 [3] 107.5 mi (11.0 mph)

Moving time was about 8hr 18 min. There was a stop for ice cream in Merlin, and a few stops for wardrobe adjustments as it warmed up.

Paul and I headed to Leamington then the north side of Point Pelee and Hillman Marsh. We were caught in an unexpected rain that soaked my gloves and knee warmers (I have more appropriate ones, but didn't wear them as rain wasn't in the forecast). After 20-25 miles, Paul opted to go home as he was more poorly equipped than I was. I carried on into Kent County, riding some sloppy gravel roads. Ice cream at Merlin hit the spot. The sun came out occasionally along here and I cranked my tunes.

I had seen a rain gauge back closer to Wheatley with 2.7" in it, and we had 2.4" at the office. There won't be much field work locally for a week.

I got on the rail trail near Comber and rode south of Staples. There were 4 wheelers parked on the rail trail and then they rode on the trail, bypassing me by ducking into a field. Naughty naughty naughty. Then I worked my way south, with a diversion on the gravel South Talbot Road. The McCain took me home.

A very good ride. Again, pizza was a highlight in the food department. And the ice cream, of course!

2 coyotes just outside Kingsville. 2 sandhill cranes up by Staples (only the 2nd and 3rd ones I've seen in Canada, although I've seen many in the US, and actually heard them last Saturday near Timmins), yellow warblers, assorted ducks, and a woodchuck who just about ran into my bike....things you see when you don't have a video camera running!.

Note

I procrastinated on ordering new bifocal sunglasses. But finally bit the bullet and coughed up the dough to replace the ones I haven't seen since we were in Florida in March. Guess what I found this morning.

Spin class 45:00 [3]

Not the popular class, but a very effective one.

Gym time 25:00 [3]

Kettlebells. Smith machine. Abs.

I feel like kettlebells are a good antidote for days of standing at the front counter at the office and working the phone and keyboard.

Note

If spring fertilizer season wasn't crazy stupid enough, today the staff at our facility had pre-selection interviews, in order for the purchasers of our business to get to know us (before deciding who gets selection interviews later this month).
