Trekking (trail) 1:11:00 [3] 3.1 mi (22:54 / mi)

I travelled to Sudbury for the weekend to see my son (and the rocks, and the trees, and the lakes.....). I got into some terrible whiteout conditions just south of Parry Sound late Friday night, so spent a few hours dozing in my car at the service station. Turns out the highway was closed north of Grundy Lake Provincial Park, so even if I had forged on, I probably would have spent a lot of time parked on the highway.
I had originally thought of jogging the 10 km loop around Lake Laurentian, but once I got out on the trail, a hike seemed like a better idea. Ice and snow made for some dicey traction, and with the prevalence of rock faces, putting on microspikes seemed like inviting fingernails to run down a chalkboard. My poles were handy. Chickadees saluted me along the way.

Jogging (Streets) 23:00 [3] 3.0 km (7:40 / km)
shoes: New blue

How to get myself out and about after dark/supper? A trip to the library! Then I jogged around town with my selections tucked under my arms (one way to limit myself to two items).

Gym time (Boot camp) 50:00 [3]

A lot of TRX work. And some dumbells and stability ball work. Luckily for me, not all at the same time.

Spin class 45:00 [3]

Heavy and heavier resistance.

Adventure Bike (Gravel, bit of pavement) 3:01:00 [3] 39.44 mi (13.1 mph)

I have been piecing together how a gravel ride could take place over on the miles and miles of gravel back of Wheatley. I came up with a format of timed segments, using Strava. That way no one needs to blow through a stop sign in the hunt for a W.
One of the bike shops in Windsor hosts some non-pavement events, so I ran it by one of the owners back in the summer, and he said Do it! I put together a 40 mile route, emailed the GPX file out, set up some Strava segments.......and they put the word out through their network. Paul and I staked the beginning and end of each of the 5 segments yesterday afternoon.
At least a couple dozen people showed up to ride today....cold, windy, and hardly sunny. And they loved it.
I had said start between 9 am and 10 am.....Paul and I started shortly after 9 am so we could try to make sure all the stakes for the segments were still standing.....and they were. The biggest group of riders finished just after us.....doing the ride about 45 minutes faster than we did (the power of the pack.......and some darn strong riders!). Paul had his aerobars and was the stronger rider between the two of us today.....so I spent some time riding echelon in his wake.
Food and fellowship followed.

Hockey 35:00 [3]

3 D....lots of ice time
0 for the night.
