Trekking (Trail) 40:00 [2]
A short overnight trip with Lynda...my canoe adventure partner from August. A short trek on the Carriage Trail at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park as it was getting dusky. It was icy once we got up out of the parking lot and my yak tracks/microspikes were in the car. Duh. We kept to level/tamer routes, leaving the ice-covered trail up through the rocks for another day. Reservations at the Mono Cliffs Inn for dinner were at 5:30. We were lucky enough to get in at the pub....delightful food and company.
Trekking (Bruce Trail) 50:00 [2]
After supper, we parked at a pulloff near the B&B and put our headlamps on. No moon, but the stars were spectacular. Lynda suggested a route that didn't cross too many contour lines, so we headed in that direction, but the trail (once more) was very icy. And the yaktracks/microspikes were in the car. We turned around and went the other direction, crossing lots of contour lines, down, down, down along a burbling stream. But there was no ice to contend with, so it was a delightful little hike. Then up, up, up again.....of course.
We had wanted to do this trip in October and camp, but she spent a couple weekends last month looking after her dad, and life just happens some times to all of us, so suddenly it was November. As it turned out, there was no wind/no precipitation Saturday night, so we could have had a delightful mini-camping trip after all, without too much worry about the weather. Next time....
