Gravel Bike (pavement/gravel) 1:35:00 [3] 21.0 mi (13.3 mph)

Time deducted for attending to punctured tire.....

Our roadie peeps were taking part in a charity ride near Amherstburg, so we did our own version. They did not ride their bikes there....but did 50 to 200 km on pavement. Other roadie folks did 400 or up to 500 km.....starting at midnight. Cool stuff!

It was a record cold temperature for the date in the morning. Parts of southern Ontario had frost, but 1.7C broke the record of 2.2 from 1929 around here. Wind was minimal first thing in the morning but I doubled up on gloves, wore toe covers and my winter knee warmers to start the day.

I have the WTB tires on my bike right now, which are not as durable as the bombproof Flintridge. And yup, on the paved road, I got a puncture. The fluid took a while to seal it...pumped it back up and made it to the soccer fields where the ride started. Borrowed a floor pump and added some more air, which seemed to hold ok.

Gravel Bike (pavement) 2:10:00 [3] 31.9 mi (14.7 mph)

We set out in waves to keep the groups small. Paul and I were riding with another Banded Goose member that we haven't seen all summer (and now realized she is riding for two!)

A couple hundred meters in, the sealant started spewing out. So I put a bacon strip in that held the rest of the day. Apparently riding for two doesn't slow our fellow Banded Goose member down! The other 2 guys from our group who were doing 200 km caught up to us, then our pace seemed to slow down as we got caught up on 5 months of news.

Back at the soccer fields, we were provided with lunch, and did some more physical distancing bike-related catching up. So good to see some of our bike peeps again!

Gravel Bike (Gravel/pavé/rail trail) 2:20:00 [3] 26.9 mi (11.5 mph)

Paul and I took the rail trails home, stopping in Harrow for ice cream (last weekend of the summer). I had my tiny packable backpack so it was stuffed with jackets and gloves and toe covers and knee warmers for the ride home.My phone started to ring with work stuff (sunny "fall" days get farmers in harvest mode!) so it was back to reality.
