Jogging (pavement/rail trail) 29:00 [3] 2.4 mi (12:05 / mi)

When I saw the weather for this morning a couple days ago, I cancelled my spin class reservation so I could go jogging instead. Gorgeous morning!

Gravel Bike (Gravel/pavé/rail trail) 1:43:00 [3] 20.8 mi (12.1 mph)

Paul and I rode out the Greenway (2 off leash dogs, but at least they didn't run out in front of us). Then up to the 5th to check out some road/ditch stabilization construction. And sailed home with a tail wind.

We are moving into the Red zone on Monday. Back in the spring, there was so much public outcry over the fact that the terrible rate of Covid in the migrant worker population in Leamington/Kingsville was keeping the whole county back from starting to open up. Eventually the city of Windsor was able to open up before those of us in Kingsville/Leamington. Kind of ironic that Windsorites aren't saying anything this time, as 75% of the cases this month have been in WINDSOR.
The town I work in is in the Yellow zone. I talked to HR about this a few days ago when we moved into Orange, and the rate of infection was indicative of a trend in the wrong direction. My time in the office is the most exposure I have to anyone other than Paul. But the optics of someone travelling from a Red to a Yellow zone to work are not good. Especially when I can do 95% of my work from my laptop/cell phone anyways. So I will just hide at home for a few days and hopefully this spike in our county gets under control quickly.

Gym time 45:00 [3]

Power Barbell.....still just me, the instructor and 1 other participant (whom I think is the instructor's mom). Just fine with me!
Dead lifts and squats. Kettlebell too.

Note

I had my name on the Wait List for a refurbished canoe from Killarney Outfitters this fall. Last weekend I figured I was far enough down the list that I was out of luck. Then this week, I got the email saying "game on". All the 16' Queticos were already gone (that was my first choice) but I was able to purchase a 16' Prospector. I played my "but I live so far south we can paddle year 'round" card, but they can't be picked up until April. Maybe its debut will be an ice-out trip......or a May blackfly season trip.

Long "climbs" at specific cadences.

Fat Biking (road/trail) 1:11:00 [3] 7.84 mi (9:03 / mi)

Just enough snow to kinda make the ground white. I rode up to the Jack Miner woods along the slushy county road with a good paved shoulder. The road part was track bare but the slush on the paved shoulder had my backside soaked within a minute (neglected to put a rear fender on!). About 6 cars passed me at very reasonable speeds, not throwing any more slush on me. Then an OPP passed, and I am sure he thought he was doing the right thing by moving over half a lane from me.....which put the car tires right in the heaviest slush on the road, so I was swamped from the side now. Thanks!

Anyways, the woods were wonderful and it was just me and the squirrels there.
