XC Skiing (breaking trail) 2:00:00 [3] 5.5 mi (2.7 mph)

I went back out to the 5th and my trails from last night were slightly trampled by deer, (no worries!) This morning's fresh inch of snow was a nice addition. After my first out and back, D and her husband joined me for a few loops. Two people walked in while we were skiing, so we went over to them to ask them not to walk on the ski tracks (they had for about 3/4 of their hike).
Sunny, protected from the wind, sparkly snow.....just lovely.
We saw a pair of robins.

XC Skiing (breaking trail) 1:00:00 [3] 2.6 mi (2.6 mph)

Booked 1.5 hours of vacation time and headed out to the 5th for some skiing. No one had been in there since I had been there last Monday.....absolutely no human tracks. 3 deer were leaving, but there were so many deer trails! I did most of the perimeter and a few internal trails.

XC Skiing (trampled path) 40:00 [3] 2.2 mi (3.3 mph)

Parked at the golf course and headed west on the rail trail. Enough people had walked on the trail that there was a trampled route to shuffle along. Not a soul out there at 7 pm though.

XC Skiing (breaking trail) 1:15:00 [3] 4.25 mi (3.4 mph)

I parked at the Freshco grocery store and jumped on the Greenway. No one had been on it! I broke trail 3/4 of the way to the Graham where I encountered some footprints and snow drifts across the trail. That's where I turned around and skied back and forth several times between there and Kratz sideroad. By the 3rd or 4th time over the tracks I was able to get some nice gliding.

Trekking (snowshoeing) 30:00 [3] 1.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

Today's heavy snow (heavy for this part of the province!) ended around supper time. There was 8-10" of glorious fluff everywhere! I snowshoed down the sidewalk to the parkette then went up and down the hills a few times. When I came home, I made some trails in the backyard so the outdoors cat could go out on his tour of the neighbourhood.

Fat Biking (fresh snow) 1:30:00 [3] 7.9 mi (11:24 / mi)
shoes: Studded tires

Parked at the Memorial Forest and poked around in there for a bit....not well travelled so not packed down under last night's fresh snow. I stopped once and could hardly start again! Then I headed down the cottage row and into Holiday Beach C.A. the back way. Along the beach, past the hawk tower, checked out some duck blinds, the park roads, and the hiking loop trail closer to the entry. That one was more packed down under last night's fresh snow so was easier riding. Other than the trees that were down across it ..... remind me never to do a cyclocross race with my fat bike.

XC Skiing (exploratory skiing) 32:00 [3] 1.85 mi (3.5 mph)

Checked out the "new" place on the 5th.....another 6" snow would bury the vegetation, but it was ok for the first trip of the season down here in the banana belt.

XC Skiing (rough tracks) 56:00 [3] 3.0 mi (3.2 mph)

D invited me over for a ski around their wooded property. Very nice to be sheltered from the winds.

Fat Biking (trails) 52:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:24 / mi)
shoes: Studded tires

I have not been to Windsor in ages (months?). I had a couple errands to do and thought I'd include some biking while I was there. Instead of heading to Malden Park, I went to Ojibway Park/Tall Grass Prairie. Paul went for a walk and I did a short ride around the trails in both parks. It was busy but no worse than the Greenway.

Jogging (Pavement) 16:00 [3] 1.4 mi (11:26 / mi)
shoes: White Hoka

Shuffled down to the lake.
