10 AM

Speed Skating (Long Track) race (500 Final) 45 [5] 0.5 km (40.0 kph)

Definitely better than yesterday. Got nice and low, attacked the corners, kept my tempo up. Still lacking strength in my ankles, however. Hoping to do a sub 45 in Lake Placid.

12 PM

Speed Skating (Long Track) race (1000 Final) 1:29 [5] 1.0 km (40.4 kph)

Another good race! I had more energy before the start of the race and didn't get rigor mortis by the end. Unexpectedly pulled a 1:29.50. Just one second off Cup 2 standard!

2 PM

Speed Skating (Long Track) race (Mass Start) 9:30 [5] 6.4 km (40.4 kph)

So many people left early that the juniors and seniors were put together. The instructions for sprint laps (points are given to fastest time) were not very clear, so I didn't get very many points. Stayed with the lead pack until the last three laps. Lot's of fun! Great way to end the meet.

Speed Skating (Long Track) warm up/down 45:00 [1]

Fiddled around with the blades a little bit.

11 AM

Speed Skating (Long Track) race (1000 Qualifier) 1:34 [5] 1.0 km (38.3 kph)

Even at the start line, I knew this wasn't gonna be good. Felt pretty sluggish for the most part. And I can't blame the skates.
12 PM

Dryland (Speed Skating) warm up/down 20:00 [1]

1 PM

Speed Skating (Long Track) race (5000) 8:45 [5] 5.0 km (34.3 kph)

One power nap later, I was feeling much better. Skated technically smooth. First few laps were consistent enough, but I kinda fell asleep in the last half. My final three laps were 43.83, 41.72, and 39.54. They don't call me a sandbagger for nothing!

Speed Skating (Long Track) race (500 Qualifier) 47 [5] 0.5 km (38.3 kph)

"Hey Tomas from ten minutes ago!"
"What?"
"Don't race in those new skates you haven't tried on yet!"

1 PM

Speed Skating (Long Track) race (1500) 2:25 [5] 1.5 km (37.2 kph)

After some skate adjustments and some self-loathing, I felt a bit more comfortable on my Vikings. Didn't get the sub 2:20 I was hoping for. This is gonna be like learning to skate all over again!
