Okay race today. I am strong but not fast and that is okay since I am focusing on running well in a race over 3 X as long as today.
It felt fast from the start, I was through the mile in just under 5:30 and felt like the 2nd mile was strong. The last mile was frustrating - I wanted to race, to push, to get in deep and compete but I was right on puke threshold and every time I would try to go I could feel the puke coming on. I basically ran the last mile as easy as possible to avoid puking, I did smile multiple times which seemed to lower perceived exertion and allow me to go a bit faster.
I saw the clock at 17:53 and then sprinted to try and break 18min since I knew that at that point the puke would come after the line and not slow me down. Dry heaved a bit after the race but I was off on my CD less than 5min after finishing and felt good.
Way more there - I was just held back today. Maybe I should just push earlier, puke, and then be able to actually race.

I actually felt pretty sore in the WU, specifically achillles and hip flexors but that might have just been me being sensitive prerace. Felt great on the CD.

Run after practice tonight. Busy day and I was feeling tired but it was nice to get out, beautiful day.

I was in the Pool at 6am this morning as this was the only time I had today to get this done.
Good, hard, focused workout - I wanted it.

- 20min WU, 24min at Tempo, 16min CD

Moved the old man training club WO up to today since I am racing on Saturday. Crazy day with the snow and the wind. I thought I was going to be blown off the dam and the at times the snow drifts were knee deep.

Really good WO, strong and in control. I could have gone longer.
