Note
(rest day)

Got close to running, but figured if there was a day to have a rest day, it is today, so opted for maximal chillage.

Scottish 6 Days - Grandtully

Fast terrain, top weather, mostly downhill course, only a middle and all nicely tracked up: a very enjoyable end to the week despite apparently forgetting how to use a compass.

Scottish 6 Days - Craig A Barns

All going reasonably well and having a fair amount of fun, until returning to the forest about 90mins in as I began to slowly but surely falling down the slippy bonk slope, and with it, my ability to navigate well.

Lost some time standing on the wrong hill for a while at 24, but the wheels really fell off at 26 where I just missed the flag, went too far and just hopelessly couldn't work out what was going on. The ground was looking super soft and comfy, but eventually pieced it together and limited my losses to a mere 10mins. The last few controls were then a bonky and painful grind in.

Bonk aside though, I was enjoying the course and area, and I'd like to think I was only a extra gel or so away from a good run.

Scottish 6 Days - Culteuchar and Dron

Late start after a morning of parking and all anyone had said was it was fast and easy. Thus I tried to run fast and not make any mistakes. Mostly successful, but overthought things towards the end and took a bad route on the leg back into the woods, losing probably about 2mins. A good change of pace from the rest of the week and still managed to have a good time.

Biggest disappointment of the day was passing Ali in the thick woods without seeing him - could have been a nice little pain train.

Scottish 6 Days - Dundurn

Scrappy from the start and leaking time all over place, meaning when caught me Ali (2mins) at 12, it wasn't a huge shock. Quickly got insta-binned though to 14 which was sad, so settled into a resigned plod to finish to try and not lose too much more time.

But then he reappeared at 17 and the race was back on, with us each taking turns getting in front and then binning time every few controls. It all culminated in a nice pacey chase down the hill and across the fields, as I got binned one final time on the run-in. Not my best or cleanest orienteering by a long shot, but all very good fun.

Scottish 6 Days - Edinchip

Another fairly good run with only one or two real mistakes. Feeling goosed from yesterday round the first speedy open section, but once things got a more tricky managed to forget about it a bit. A good area with a mixture of terrain to break things up. Did not enjoy the uphill run in.
