Day trip to Edinburgh and figured the best way to see people was to go for a nice big run, with the obvious choice being the Skyline from home as it's some I've been wanting to do for a while but haven't quite had the energy to do.
Started with a pretty reasonable pack of boys before we roughly halved around 30mins, as people (pretty understandably) didn't fancy a 5 hour job. It was great to see people and I made an effort to chat to everyone before they departed, but was still rather sad to see them go. Powered on with Ali, Gregor and Matt (plus picking up Finn around Swanston) for the main event. Conditions and chat were both reasonable so coupled with the chilled pace, things were mostly pretty pleasant.
Big shout out has to go to Matt who it turned out had:
a) never even been to the Pentlands in his previous 4 years in Edinburgh (which is unacceptable behaviour really).
b) never run more than 22km.
Consider this, he did impressively well and although he was flagging in the second half, he never crashed nearly as hard as I'd feared. A seriously impressive effort.
Highlight of the run has to be Matt briefly crawling up the steep bit of Bell's Hill as a joke before Ali telling him to keep doing it until he could turn his phones on to get a picture, which meant about 3 minutes more painful crawling for an already tired Matt. Hilarious. Rode that buzz most of the way home.
Anyway, a special run to remember, which also happened to complete a nice goal for me, and big love to everyone that made an appearance.
