Day trip to Edinburgh and figured the best way to see people was to go for a nice big run, with the obvious choice being the Skyline from home as it's some I've been wanting to do for a while but haven't quite had the energy to do.

Started with a pretty reasonable pack of boys before we roughly halved around 30mins, as people (pretty understandably) didn't fancy a 5 hour job. It was great to see people and I made an effort to chat to everyone before they departed, but was still rather sad to see them go. Powered on with Ali, Gregor and Matt (plus picking up Finn around Swanston) for the main event. Conditions and chat were both reasonable so coupled with the chilled pace, things were mostly pretty pleasant.

Big shout out has to go to Matt who it turned out had:
a) never even been to the Pentlands in his previous 4 years in Edinburgh (which is unacceptable behaviour really).
b) never run more than 22km.
Consider this, he did impressively well and although he was flagging in the second half, he never crashed nearly as hard as I'd feared. A seriously impressive effort.

Highlight of the run has to be Matt briefly crawling up the steep bit of Bell's Hill as a joke before Ali telling him to keep doing it until he could turn his phones on to get a picture, which meant about 3 minutes more painful crawling for an already tired Matt. Hilarious. Rode that buzz most of the way home.

Anyway, a special run to remember, which also happened to complete a nice goal for me, and big love to everyone that made an appearance.

Meant to go earlier but was too hungry, then too full, then too busy, blah blah blah. Anyway, ended up with a nice peaceful cruise round in the dark, but it was enjoyable so I'll take it.

A cold and grey day. Not the most inspirational run I've ever been on really.

Soon after leaving the house, saw a cat spectacularly misjudge jumping off a wall after a bird. Everything after that was disappointing by comparison.

5x ( 2mins [1], 1min [1] ) round the Garscube Science Park loop. Wanted to do something a bit faster so this fit the bill nicely. Good stuff though and was feeling pretty tired after, but in that good post-session I-worked-hard kind of way.

Also, been a while since I repped here, but this was a real staple of Garscube Harriers Juniors back in the day; loop was just as nice, but did feel a lot shorter than I remember it being, although that's probably not too surprising really.

Clyde hill run up round Jaw Reservoir, sandwiched between two chunky, wholegrain slices of solo plod. Good sunset too.

An enjoyable steady effort into town and back. Felt good.

Surroundings are definitely much more interesting surroundings than doing this kind of thing out and back on canal/WoL, but on the flipside there were maybe a few sketchy junctions coming down Great Western Road where I took my life into my own hand slightly more than I maybe would have liked. Got to keep things spicy somehow though, right?

Milngavie wiggling. Would like to get back to something resembling reasonable training after a fairly busy and stressful last few weeks, although honestly will probably just take what I can get for the next month or so. Things have settled down slightly for now, but big things still to come.
