Road Running 21:49 [2] 4.35 km (5:01 / km) +84m 4:34 / km
shoes: X-Talons 212 WK2

Could have taken the metro, but decided to run because it is better mileage.

Lucía put me in contact with her Barcelona runner friend Miquel so tagged along with him for his Sunday long run, along with one his running mates. First 10km-ish were about where I've already ventured myself (but was reassuring to see we agreed on which are the best path), and then the seconds half was all new stuff for me, and it was nice to be able to actually enjoy the scenery rather than being constantly worried about getting lost. Was okay with the (admittedly mid-November) temperature, but also was definitely not going to turn down a drink the two times we stopped at a tap: probably need to learn the locations of these fairly soonish. Anyway, two nice guys who were running pretty much an ideal pace/distance/climb for me, so hopefully can meet then again and have some Spanish running fwends.

Quick SdC from home trying out a few new wiggles and getting ever closer to that optimum line though Parc del Castell to get to the good stuff. The hills were absolutely packed, but it makes sense as the weather was great and you are not allowed to travel at the moment. No boar sightings today, which is both a relief and a disappointment.

Checking out a bit more of Montjuïc (which was nice as ever) before stumbling across all sort of barriers and ramps leading down (inculding a lot of steps down) towards the main plaza. Turns out there's some UCI City Mountain Biking race happening tomorrow, which is a result for me as I have nothing to do tomorrow and this looks like it could be very fun to watch.

Trail Running 1:43:52 [2] 17.73 km (5:51 / km) +738m 4:51 / km

Similar route to Tuesday but slightly nudging the bounds further in a few places. Saw another boar as I rounded a corner about 10 steps into the National Park, which may have given me an even bigger scare that last time. Also it may have resulted in me letting out a (super manly) scream of terror which in turn sent the boar darting off into the terrain. Given the pace it was moving and that it definitely weighed a good few kg more than me, I'm very thankful it choose the flight option.

Also had a bash at a segment up the last climb in an attempt to get that name brand out there, but unfortunately finished 2nd by just 1 second. However on the climb I did manage to disconnect my headtorch cable and had to spend a bit of time having to reconnect it in the dark. Managed to do pretty quickly but still definitely took longer than 1 second, so I have some unfinished business here.

Road Running 46:49 [2] 9.9 km (4:44 / km) +38m 4:38 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Riders 24

A long and stressful day fully exploring the bureaucracy of the Spanish Government and Barcelona City Council meant I was already completely goosed before starting, but knew the fresh air would do me good once. Eventually managed to convinced myself out of the door for an exploratory wiggle about parts of the old town, and did feel extremely ploddy but also did feel better for doing it.

Was informed after getting back that El Raval (which I ran straight though) is not a place that is recommended to visit for anyone, but especially if you look like a pasty British tourist. At the time I thought the area seemed quite nice, but in retrospect maybe explains the large number of police I saw hanging about.

Trail Running 1:32:19 [2] 16.89 km (5:28 / km) +645m 4:35 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Riders 23

More exploration of the Serra de Collserola trails, and definitely starting to feel like I at least partially know my way around. Biggest surprise came at around 8km where I noticed beside the path what I thought where 2 boulders, but turned out to be 2 wild boar. Path was fairly big at this point so gave them a wide berth, although I don't think they even reacted to me at all. Mostly just empty dark trails other than that.

Nice one on Montjuïc. Considering how busy the lower parts are with runners, it striking how empty the upper (and arguably nicer) parts are. Still feel like there is a lot of untapped mileage potential here, but I'm currently not brave enough to venture too far off piste in the dark.

Also it seems like there are basically two types of groups that gather in dark parks in the city: circuits classes and people just sitting and drinking. Not sure how much this is a Spain thing vs a lockdown thing, but both bars and gyms are closed here at the moment. Either way though, everyone seems to be getting along.

Went to Decathalon and bought a mat today. Game changer.
