Grandmas Marathon
Finally hit a good weather day! Anyways forget the weather ... learning from Boston, I just went into this race with the mindset of just running hard and see what happens. Ran purely on effort and just let the splits fall where they did. My only regret was not checking splits between 11km - 18km but I was just running and being comfy with 5 other guys. But the pace really started slowing at 18km (a 3:27) so I said this is stupid and too easy and took off from the pack and rolled 3:18s to 3:12s until 32km. Only one of the other 5 stuck with me and we had a good chat from 33-37km, some other “old” guy (Kevin Pool), about rolling guys and taking turns leading before deciding that once the last 5km comes to hammer. One regret I have was waiting til the last mile to kick ... I should have went sooner ... even 200m sooner and I would have officially gotten sub 2:20:00. But running a 4:56mile from 25.3 -26.3 with literally all I had.
Side note according to the GPS I went 2:19:46 for the 42.2 ... lol ... but that doesn’t count ☹️
