Friday Feb 25

Hiking 2:00:00 [1]
Crossing the island going the other way, at night. Stopping to take lots of pictures of a beautiful white goat in the middle of the night. Having a coconut thrown at our heads from the darkness. Apparently they didn't like us playing with their goat. Oops.

Thursday Feb 24

Running 35:00 [2]4.52 mi (7:45 / mi)
shoes: Nike Pegasus '05
Easy running in the 8am 80F heat. First heat and humidity of the season made it a pretty painful run. Nice views of the beach the whole time though.
Hiking 2:00:00 [1]
Crossing the island of Tobago at its Northern part - from Speyside to Charlotteville.

Tuesday Feb 22

Hiking 6:00:00 [1]
Climbing Mt. El Tucuche in Trinidad. A lot of hacking through dense bushes, untangling vines, and crawling under or over logs, while avoiding spiders everywhere. Stunning scenery and just an amazing rainforest.

Monday Feb 21

Running 20:00 [2]2.5 mi (7:59 / mi)
Barefoot running on Las Cuevas beach in Trinidad. Felt ok, taking it easy to rest achilles this week.
Hiking 1:00:00 [1]
Hiking through jungle, looking for Guanapo Gorge in the middle of Trinidad. Never found the gorge, got bitten by lots of spiders, and almost got stuck in the jungle in the dark. All in all, a great time.

Thursday Feb 17

Running 52:35 [3]7.01 mi (7:30 / mi)
shoes: Saucony
Nice, easy run with Dan B. and Nick G. past Manhattan Bridge. Achilles still hurting this week, but definitely less than before. Will hold off of speedwork till after the vacation.

Wednesday Feb 16

Running 29:56 [3]4.38 mi (6:50 / mi)
shoes: Saucony

Monday Feb 14

Running 43:58 [3]6.51 mi (6:45 / mi)
(sick) shoes: Saucony
Nice, fast run in the rain with the track guys. Felt ok, though still a little sick and achilles still a little sore. WIll probably take tomorrow off, and will hopefully be completely healed by Wednesday.

Sunday Feb 13

Running 1:30:22 [3]18.7 km (4:50 / km)
(sick) shoes: Nike Pegasus '05
Running with Greg in Forest Park. Three laps, 28:30, 26:45, 25:30. Felt awful afterwards - still have a fever.

Saturday Feb 12

Running 37:58 [2]4.75 mi (7:59 / mi)
(sick) shoes: Nike Pegasus '05
Tried running for the first time since Monday. Achilles tendon felt better, but have a cold, so didn't feel particularly good. Add to that a new pair of shoes, so just wanted to take it easy.

Monday Feb 7

Running 31:30 [4]4.78 mi (6:35 / mi)
shoes: Saucony
Running with the very fast sophomores by Stuy. They set a fast pace, but it was fun to keep up. Achilles tendon hurt a lot, so I am taking the rest of the week off.

Sunday Feb 6

Orienteering race 39:36 [4]*** 5.3 km (7:28 / km)
shoes: VJ - Cleats
The traditional HVO winter meet at Tenafly. A very nice, middle-distance style course set by Nadezhda Popova, lots of fun. The ice and snow were unpredictable, and falling through was quite common. Decent race for me, but 12 seconds behind Zhyk!
Running 35:00 [2]* 4.38 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: VJ - Cleats
Jogging around some trails and the orange course with Sergei after running the green course. Achilles starting to hurt again.

Saturday Feb 5

Skiing 1:28:00 [2]
First ski of the year, result of a very non-snowy winter around here. Skied with Greg, going pretty easy but steady the whole way. Could sort of remember technique, but need more practice. Gorgeous day, too.

Wednesday Feb 2

Running 40:00 [3]5.52 mi (7:14 / mi)
shoes: Saucony
Road run at Stuy. Achilles hurting.
