Speedskating 1:30:00 [1]

A skating outing on Ekoln with Lasso. I used Mari's skates that I clipped into my skate ski boots. When the ice is smooth and the wind is at your back, skating on a lake may be the most enjoyable sport I have ever tried. Once you turn around and start skating upwind, the relaxation and enjoyment are replaced by constant cold and having to fight every step of the way. Still, all in all, a great experience, and much better with Mari's skates than with rentals!

Skiing 1:15:00 [2]

Classic skiing at Storvreta with Simon Eklöv, Kat, and Csaba on very icy snow. Simon and I did a couple of loops together. His skis were flying on the downhills - maybe I should put glide wax on mine one day.

Biking 1:00:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (15:00 @2) + (15:00 @3) + (5:00 @4) + (5:00 @5)

Spinning - came a bit early, got to spin a bit more.

T.rex training 30:00 [2]

Circuits with the club after spinning.

Innebandy 40:00 [4]

Innebandy after circuits. I was accused of playing too hard, which is an accusation I will happily accept any day.

T.rex training 1:10:00 [1]

Strength at F&S with tougher weights than before. Still fighting off the remnants of a cold from a week ago, so no orienteering today.

Sunday Feb 22, 2009 #

Speedskating 1:00:00 [1]

Skating at Fjällnora with Kat and our American visitors.

Running 7:00 [2] 1.17 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Warm-up, which didn't make me any warmer.

Orienteering 1:00:43 [3] **** 6.2 km (9:48 / km)
spiked:6/14c shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Wednesday Night-O in Fjällnora.
A terrible area, much better suited for ice skating than for orienteering. A lot of snow on the ground made the running tough, especially in the forest and in the fields. I orienteered very sloppily, making a small mistake at nearly every control. In the snow, every mistake cost more time than can appear from the map.

Running 1:38:00 [2] ** 15.8 km (6:12 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Tuesday night line-O, course E. Did the 12.3km version, plus running from home and back. I ran mostly with Inga, who convinced me to do a longer course than what I wanted. She had a broken toe and I a broken butt, so it made for good company. Nice run in the snow and ice of Nåsten.

Biking 55:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (15:00 @2) + (10:00 @3) + (5:00 @4) + (5:00 @5)

Monday night spinning with Anders again.

Skiing 1:55:00 [2]

A really nice long ski with Bara and Martin to finish off the weekend. We did the Blacksåsslingan and then Lätta milen. Nice pace the whole way and beautiful weather once again. A great weekend of skiing!

Saturday Feb 14, 2009 #

Skiing 2:03:00 intensity: (1:23:00 @1) + (40:00 @2)

Classic skiing at Harsa, first with Kat and then by myself. Absolutely gorgeous weather; -5C and not a cloud in the sky. This is what skiing is supposed to be like!

Skiing 1:02:00 [3]

Skate skiing in the afternoon on the "SM Spår" loop, which is very steep and was not exactly freshly groomed. The two monster climbs did me in, and I struggled to get around this course.

Skiing 55:00 [3]

Skate skiing at Harsa, on the elljusspår and some nearby trails with a headlamp. I've been fighting off a cold the whole week, and felt very weak today, especially on the uphills. It was fun, though, to ski with a lamp with no one else around on the trails.

Note

Not logging the last couple of days - a mix of being really busy and fighting off a cold, which has caused me to train less. Will catch up in the next couple of days.

T.rex training 20:00 [1]

Some core and arms before spinning.

Biking 55:00 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (15:00 @2) + (15:00 @3) + (5:00 @4) + (5:00 @5)

Spinning - session with Anders.

Running 25:00 [2] 4.17 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

To and from the start.

Orienteering 48:30 [2] ***** 5.4 km (8:59 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Orienteering on Lunsen (Tjäderleksbergen) on a course Albin set for his mini-training camp. Wet, with freezing snow falling, and lots of snow on the ground. It was very tough to run, and got cold very quickly once you made a mistake and had to stop to relocate. I started without a compass, which went ok for a while until I made a big error, leaving a control in the wrong direction. Then I took out the compass and relocated after a while, by which point I was frozen.

T.rex training 40:00 [1]

Circuits.

Innebandy 50:00 [3]

Lots of sweaty innebandy. Took some shots to the head, shins, and other painful body parts.

Running 10:00 [1] 1.43 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Warm-up

Orienteering 51:48 [3] **** 5.5 km (9:25 / km)
spiked:9/14c shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Wednesday Night-O - Fiby Norra
This is a rarely used part of Fiby with an old map, rough terrain, and lots of moose tracks. Running was tough due to the snow (much more than in Uppsala, just 15km away) and orienteering was tough due to the old (and sometimes bad) map. Made a couple of mistakes, like not knowing where I hit the road going to 9 and not really having a plan going to 10. Was confused by the mapping on 5 and 11.
As always, finding controls at night is just so much more exciting than during the day! It really feels like an accomplishment every time you spike one. In some sick way, I am sort of addicted to night-O.

Running 1:21:47 [2] 14.0 km (5:51 / km)
shoes: 2007 VJ Falcons

Tisdagsbana G, the 10.4km version. Ran at a nice comfortable tempo with Simon, Olle, and Liutas. Read the map most of the way and maintained good map contact, which was nice.

Biking 55:00 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (15:00 @2) + (15:00 @3) + (5:00 @4) + (5:00 @5)

Spinning at F&S, just to get some sort of workout in.

OK Linné Ski Camp in Orsa-Grönklitt - Day 4

A shortish ski to finish off the camp on a beautiful sunny day. Tried chasing down Kat on the 10km loop, but she has improved so much that a 15 minute head start was way too much for me to catch her. Wanted to ski some more afterwards, but got pretty cold and came in for a long, relaxed buffet lunch instead.
The trip home featured the mandatory visit to the well-endowed Christmas goat.
