| Kayaking 2:00:00 [1] | ||
| Spending two days on the island of Utö far out in the Stockholm archipelago with Jenny. We rented a kayak and took it out to a tiny little island inhabited only by a family of swans. A beautiful day and an overall good time... | ||
Thursday Jun 28 | ||
| Orienteering 1:27:12 [3] 8.3 km (10:30 / km) | ||
| Running a course at Rydbo on a gigantic map. I really needed a day of solid orienteering to get my mind back into the belief that i am capable of orienteering. The last few races have been really disappointing, leading me to become increasingly discouraged with myself. Finally orienteered well today, paying very close attention to the basics of orienteering which i often just brush off. A solid run, though not particularly fast. Maybe things will start improving now. | ||
Wednesday Jun 27 | ||
| Skiing (Rollerskiing) 32:57 [3] | ||
| Skating work-out, on my now usual route along the highway running northeast from Valhallavägen. | ||
| Running 19:34 [2] 2.4 mi (8:09 / mi) | ||
| Running to and from Haga Park and the aerobics workout. | ||
| Strength (Aerobics) 47:00 [3] | ||
| Aerobics (gympa) in the park with Kenny, Mattias and lots of girls. A very entertaining experience and a surprisingly tough work-out, working pretty much the whole body and doing a good job stretching too. | ||
Tuesday Jun 26 | ||
| Running 36:22 [2] 4.0 mi (9:05 / mi) | ||
| Easy running on our local map with Kenny after the rain. Got very soaked and ran into Mattias at the end. He suggested we go to this outdoor aerobics thing the next day with "lots of girls". | ||
Sunday Jun 24 | ||
| Running 15:00 [2] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| Warm-up | ||
| Orienteering 1:10:44 [4] 6.05 km (11:41 / km) | ||
| Relay at the Norwegian O-Fest. Another bad run - lost the pack after missing the 2nd control and made a couple of other mistakes trying to catch up. Got tired after that and slowed down, began to orienteer much cleaner... All in all, a very disappointing week-end in Norway. Must learn to orienteer again. | ||
Saturday Jun 23 | ||
| Running 15:00 [2] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| Warm-up | ||
| Orienteering 2:08:44 [4] 9.55 km (13:29 / km) | ||
| One of the most horrendous, miserable, and frustrating races of my career at the Norwegian O-Fest. Physcially tough terrain combined with awful orienteering for me... | ||
Friday Jun 22 | ||
| Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| Warm-up for the sprint | ||
| Orienteering 41:12 [4] 4.25 km (9:42 / km) | ||
| Norsk Orienteering Festival Day 1 - Sprint. A crappy performance for me, the first of three in a row...Don't know what's going on, but suspect that i am running too fast for my own good in this rather complex terrain | ||
Wednesday Jun 20 | ||
| Orienteering 56:55 [3] 5 km (11:23 / km) | ||
| Control-picking on a map in suburban Stockholm. Very detailed terrain, and i had problems navigating at a pace above a jog... | ||
Tuesday Jun 19 | ||
| Skiing (Rollerskiing) 39:45 [3] | ||
| A double-pole-only workout in the rain, taking the uphills quite hard. Still very rusty, but my form is coming back, i think. | ||
| Running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| Warm-up, cool-down, and some strides for the 5km test run. | ||
| Running 18:07 [5] 5 km (3:37 / km) | ||
| 5km test run on the track to see what kind of shape i'm in. Splits:
74 85 88 88 (5:36) 89 89 89 90 (5:57) 90 88 89 87 (5:55) Besides taking the first lap way too fast, i was very happy with this time and felt ok the whole time.
5km - Splits | ||
Monday Jun 18 | ||
| Orienteering 1:04:37 [3] 6.37 km (10:09 / km) | ||
| Drew some circles on a map and ran to them. Good terrain on a map reachable by subwway. Was quite sloppy in a lot of places... | ||
| Strength 15:00 [2] | ||
Sunday Jun 17 | ||
| Orienteering 1:55:47 [3] 13.6 km (8:31 / km) | ||
| Jukola - long night leg (#3) for team CSU. Didn't do too well, despite the relative lack of darkness - didn't use the headlamp at all. Made a big mistake early, losing about 7 minutes, but started running with a pack after that, paying close attention, and only losing 3 minutes the rest of the way. | ||
Saturday Jun 16 | ||
| Event: Jukola | ||
Friday Jun 15 | ||
| Rollerblading 1:03:00 [3] | ||
| Rollerblading with Kenny out to Lidingö - a day off from running before the Jukola. | ||
Thursday Jun 14 | ||
| Skiing (Rollerskiing) 55:00 [3] | ||
| First attempt at rollerskiing in Stockholm, with Carl Fey's poles and boots. It worked out quite fine, though i definitely lost some muscle as well as form since the end of winter... | ||
| Running 1:00:30 [3] 8.07 mi (7:30 / mi) | ||
| Running around with Kenny - went to a trail race, volunteered a bit by standing and cheering, mostly. Then ran on the map some and back home through streets. | ||
| Orienteering 47:00 [2] 2 km (23:30 / km) | ||
| Walking and some running in the dark on our local map, testing out head lamps for the Jukola. Discovering that night-O is really, reall hard. Have to make an escape down a huge cliff, over a fence, around barbed wire and across train tracks after getting lost on the way home. | ||
| Strength 15:00 [2] | ||
Wednesday Jun 13 | ||
| Running 35:00 [2] 3.0 mi (11:40 / mi) | ||
| Warm-up and cool-down for Park race. | ||
| Orienteering 17:30 [5] 2.85 km (6:08 / km) | ||
| Stockholm City Cup Race #5. It was lots of fun, but i made at least 2 minutes of mistakes and wound up with not such a great time...Winner ran 13:30, Kenny -15:40. | ||
Tuesday Jun 12 | ||
| Running 1:05:51 [3] 9.41 mi (7:00 / mi) | ||
| Running with Kenny and Mattias and a bunch of Swedish people. | ||
| Strength 10:00 [2] | ||
Monday Jun 11 | ||
| Orienteering 1:01:23 [3] 6.55 km (9:22 / km) | ||
| Running around the Norra Djurgarden map in Stockholm with Kenny, Mattias, Carl Fey, and his fiancee Natasha Libo. Yes, that means we made it to Sweden!! Woohoo. | ||
Wednesday Jun 6 | ||
| Running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| wrm-up and cool-down for intervals. | ||
| Running 7:56 [5] 1.5 mi (5:17 / mi) | ||
| intervals with kenny on the track. i did 800's while he ran 1200's. i probably should have rested less than i did between them, as i felt quite good throughout the work-out.
2:38 2:38 2:39 will take a couple of days off now for blisters to heal completely and will resume real training in sotckholm
Tuesday Jun 5 | ||
| Running 34:30 [3] 4.7 mi (7:20 / mi) | ||
| easy run by the river with kenny. my feet hurt, but don't get worse, which makes me happy... | ||
Monday Jun 4 | ||
| Running 32:00 [3] 4.74 mi (6:45 / mi) | ||
| running on a treadmill barefoot - bad idea. more blisters appear. grrrr. when am i going to heal?? | ||
Sunday Jun 3 | ||
| Event: The Billygoat | ||
