Orienteering 1:31:00 [2] 10.0 km (9:06 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

Training on Nåsten. I ran the course that Sam and Ross did on Sunday - control picks, corridors, and contours-only all in one. Didn't do the whole thing, and ran a couple of legs multiple times, trying to get back into the mindset of smooth, heads-up orienteering in Swedish terrain. There is still a long way back to good shape.

T.rex training 42:00 [3]

Rockgympa. First time in at least a month, and it showed. Everything seemed difficult, but still fun.

Innebandy 18:00 [3]

Innebandy!

Running 35:00 [2] 6.36 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Asics with flames 2012

Running around the old Templehof airport in Berlin. Picturing what it must have looked like during World War II and the Berlin airlift.

Running 42:30 [2] 8.0 km (5:19 / km)
shoes: Yellow mizunos

Morning run with Ross and Ross' friend from college Diana. We ran from Blodan into the north part of Nåsten, then down the rail trail and back through Kung Björn's hill.

Indoor trail running looks pretty cool: http://www.indoortrail.de/der-streckenverlauf-vom-...
Orienteering next?

Cross-Training 1:00:00 intensity: (36:00 @2) + (24:00 @4)

Intervals on the elliptical at Blåsenhus, 4x6 minutes with 2 minutes rest.

Orienteering 1:00:29 [3] 6.9 km (8:46 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

Linné local event at Lunsen in some freshly fallen snow. Took me a while to get into the map - both the running in terrain and the map reading on the run. Eventually things went smoother, and I felt pretty confident orienteering towards the end. Alli came too, and finished her orange course, beating more than half the people on it.

Orienteering 40:00 [2] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Yellow mizunos

Sprint orienteering by myself at night around Eriksberg.

Thursday Mar 13, 2014 #

Running 25:00 [2] 4.55 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Yellow mizunos

From home to Ekeby, some warmup and cool-down, and back home.

Orienteering 19:52 [4] 2.6 km (7:38 / km)
shoes: Yellow mizunos

Mass-start knockout sprint in Ekeby. I was pretty much alone from the start, as I was the slowest in my group, but I kept seeing people from other start groups the entire time. Challenging to see the map and spot routes at night, but I mostly managed to pick good routes and run well. Still a staggering 4 minutes behind Albin's time.

Orienteering 1:34:29 [2] 11.5 km (8:13 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

Tisdagsbana A2. Ran mostly with Rasa and Sara and shared the navigation with Rasa. Really nice feeling, both running (at a comfortable pace) and navigating, pretty much the first such feeling since I've been back in Sweden.

Orienteering 30:00 [1]

Hanging ultrasprint controls on Blodan and Högbergsparken.

Sunday Mar 9, 2014 #

Running 15:00 [2] 2.73 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

Jogging to KG with Ross, then warming up with Lina, and jogging back to Blodan with Rassmus.

Orienteering race 41:30 [4] 6.0 km (6:55 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

A one-man relay from the clubhouse. This was my first orienteering race of any kind since O-Ringen. It was a mass start with four loops of forked sprint courses in the fields, forests, and neighborhoods around the Linné clubhouse. I ran too fast for my present shape on the first loop and paid for it by struggling during the last two loops. The orienteering was mostly ok (it was pretty simple), but I still managed to take a couple of bad routes and made one actual map reading error that cost around 30 seconds. My speed was very low, but it was a lot of fun to get out and race.

Running 40:00 [2] 7.27 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

Running out to Nåsten and back on a beautiful, sunny Uppsala morning.

Orienteering 33:10 [3] 3.0 km (11:03 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

Orienteering! I did one of Thierry's pre-made and marked King of the Mountain courses on Nåsten. First time really orienteering in the forest in so long. Really fun, especially on a beautiful, sunny day. Ran in short sleeves and just loved finding controls. Thanks Thierry!

Cross-Training (elliptical) 52:00 intensity: (36:00 @2) + (16:00 @4)

Elliptical intervals at Science Park, imitating the intervals Linné was running the same night. Did 8x2', where the first 1:30 was on high resistance, imitating an uphill, and the last 0:30 with low resistance, imitating pushing over the top of the hill and then down. Not sure if it was a realistic approximation, but I certainly sweated a lot. Did 8 of these with 1 minute rest.

Wednesday Mar 5, 2014 #

Orienteering 51:00 [2] 5.0 km (10:12 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcons 2012

Orienteering in Stadsskogen with Alli in the morning. We did one of the courses that Thierry made, put online, and "streamered" control locations with biodegradable red paint. Lots of fun, and Alli got better and better as we went.

Cross-Training 55:00 [3]

Alli and I went to a class called Strengh and Sprints that Marta Z runs at Blåsenhus. It definitely kicked our butts but certainly kept the heart rate up the entire time.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [2] 12.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra 2013

Tisdagasbana! Did the short 9km edition, which meant running by myself for most of it. Felt very uncomfortable with both running and navigation, though both got better as the run went on. Didn't help having a half-charged headlamp that only worked on low power. No snow in the woods at all, just lots of mud, which was pretty fun to run through.

Cross-Training (elliptical) 1:30:00 [2]

Elliptical at Blåsenhus with Alli while watching Vasaloppet. What a thrilling finish this year!

Saturday Mar 1, 2014 #

Running 40:00 [2] 7.27 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Yellow mizunos

From home to the castle and back, plus to the start of the sprints.

Orienteering 12:00 [4] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Yellow mizunos

Sprint-SM test-running downtown. My first hard running in a while, so stopped as soon as I started feeling my back a little bit.
