Running 20:00 [2]2.22 mi (9:00 / mi)
Warm-up, with headphones on, running around the field at the Relay Champs, attempting to get focused and tune out all distractions.
Orienteering 44:19 [5]6.27 km (7:04 / km) +240m 5:56 / km
US Relay Champs, Vermont. I ran the 4th, anchor, leg for the CSU team. My teammates (Rosstopher, Zan, and kwalker) did an awesome job, each finishing their legs in the lead, so i had a good margin to work with. Still, i wanted to take no chances and run a good race. I caught Will Hawkins (who was doing the whole relay alone and beating the field) soon after the 1st control and ran with him for a few legs, occasionally taking different route choices and meeting again at the controls. I lost a little time coming into #7 (~20 sec) and maybe another 45 seconds after #8, when i left the control, ran about 100m towards the trail, then decided to turn around and return to the flag to check the control code. I got tired on the second half of the course, the loop around the field, and William steadily pulled away from me. Still, i was really happy with my race and the relay victory of the awesome Team CSU!!!

Warm-up
Orienteering 1:28:54 [4]9.2 km (9:40 / km) +260m 8:28 / km
GMOC A-Meet, Day 1 Blue course. I came to the meet with the goal of doing well in the Relay champs, so I just took Saturday to get used to the map and try to run a good race at a steady, not breakneck, pace. I had a pretty good race, but definitely started getting tired and making mistakes in the end, losing time on 16, 17, and 18 (~5:30 total). I also lost about 1 minute on 5 and another minute on the route choice to 9. I enjoyed the map and the course though, and was pretty excited for the relays the following day.
