Met up with Carl Wiking and Simon for morning training on NĂ¥sten before catching a flight to Vienna. Simon set a long course, and we all started at the same time. I felt really tired the whole way, and it was a struggle to keep up, but it was a good session, anyway. Cut it short to make sure I actually made my flight.

Attundadubbeln long distance race on a map called Morsta, between Uppsala and Stockholm

Sometime the map just makes sense and you feel like the orienteering is happening in slow motion. Today was one of those days - one of the cleanest races I've run in Sweden. It was a surprising day to race this well, as I only decided last night to race despite having injured my ankle last week. I taped very heavily and felt good warming up, so decided to give it a go. I ran a bit less forcefully and aggressively than the previous two weekends, and perhaps that helped the orienteering, as I seemed to find the right pace to run at. It was a nice feeling to come into the finish knowing I'd run a good race - just 30-40 seconds lost, all on #10. Ended up 7th out of 32, which sounds good, except that all the good runners are away at the Swedish Champs. Regardless, I really enjoyed it today.

Decided to go to club training and test the ankle to see if I could run the race I signed up for on Saturday. Latched on to the group of Ross, Sam, Kristina, and Erik, and ran the first forked part of the course with them. Was very careful with the ankle, including a moment when I ran up a dot knoll, saw that it was a one meter drop-off at the end, so turned around and ran back down it.
A nice training, getting dark towards the end, so we skipped the last few controls. It was very pretty in the forest, and I really enjoyed this. The ankle survived ok.
