Hiking 2:00:00 [0]
Logging hiking (with intensity 0) so I can keep track of general activity during my recovery. Went for a nice hike in Rock Creek with Alli and Barney from home. Valley trail to the stone bridge with a stop for Barney to play in the river, then back over the top. Stopped by the farmer's market on the way home: popsicles for everyone!

I went orienteering!
After a nap, I drove over to Gallaudet University, which is the national university for the education of the deaf and hard of hearing, for QOC's Summer Short Series event, organized by Mark Mace.
Mark offered to sprint courses on the (I think) brand-new map of this fun little campus with some nice tricky areas, and some good contours for being in the middle of a city. I tried out jogging for the first time since the surgery, and jogged the first 15 minutes of the course. After that I alternated, one leg walking / one leg jogging the rest of the way. The conclusion is that I am not ready for a return to running yet, as my right side tightened up pretty quickly, including the lower back, hip flexor, and hamstring. I think there is still some healing that needs to happen, as well as strengthening to correct for the imbalance I must have developed over the last year of overcompensating.
Still, it was really fun to be out orienteering, and I enjoyed Mark's map and course!
