Running 32:06 [2] 3.21 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: 2013 Asics White+Blue

A run! I decided to see if any progress has been made and ran the same loop I did with Alex back in December, through bits of Rock Creek Park, entering via 17th street. It felt ok, though once again the right groin tightened up towards the end. It's probably an improvement from that time, and I feel no pain or discomfort the day after, which is nice. But progress is so minuscule and slow that it is easy to be discourage.

Note

Inspired by vmeyer, here is a rundown of my OUSA rankings through history. Unless otherwise stated, these are all on Blue:

2001 15th place - 10 races - 90.7 ranking
2002 13th place - 13 races - 87.8 ranking
2003 15th place - 14 races - 87.4 ranking
2004 13th place - 23 races - 90.3 ranking
2005 17th place - 6 races - 89.8 ranking
2006 7th place - 7 races - 96.0 ranking (living in Sweden)
2007 ----------- - 3 races - 102.2 ranking (living in Sweden; 2nd best ranking)
2008 ------------ - 2 races - 90.0 ranking (injured; 10th best ranking)
2009 5th place - 7 races - 96.5 ranking
2010 5th place - 10 races - 93.4 ranking
2011 10th place - 5 races - 87.3 ranking (still injured; not training)
2012 5th place - 6 races - 96.3 ranking (training again)
2013 ------------ - 3 races - 100.3 ranking (2nd best ranking)
2014 3rd place - 10 races - 98.5 ranking (moving back to US)
2015 11th place - 6 races - 88.5 ranking (injured again; 111.9 ranking on Red)
2016 ---------- - 3 races - 73.5 ranking (injured; 23rd best ranking)

Not a pretty picture in recent years. And not surprisingly, best ranking years (2007 and 2013) correspond to best training years and a lot of time spent in Sweden. Here's hoping for a healthier and better 2017 racing season.

Cross-Training 40:00 [1]

Trying Kenny's approach to elliptical sessions: keeping the strides at 180 per minute. Seemed to work well in terms of getting my heart rate up more than usual.

PT 20:00 [1]

One-legged squats on the Bosu plus resistance band work.

Cross-Training 45:00 intensity: (29:00 @1) + (16:00 @4)

Elliptical intervals at the gym at work. I did 4x4 minutes, worked hard. Learning about how Germany helped bring about the Russian Revolution of 1917. Somehow we never learned that in history class back in Russia...

PT 10:00 [1]

Mostly stretching.

Thursday Jan 5, 2017 #
