Family outing! Well, without Barney...

Alli tried out her new Niflheim rollerskis on Beach Drive in Rock Creek, and I accompanied, pushing Inara in the stroller with the jogging attachment. This went really well, and Alli was gaining confidence and improving the whole time. I might have to get myself some rollerskis too so we can all go together. We parked at the Boundary Bridge parking lot on the edge of DC. From there, there is a paved trail that winds north along Rock Creek to Lake Needwood, 14.4 miles one-way. So we have lots to explore on rollerskis around here!

Running 12:29 [2] 2.37 km (5:17 / km) +58m 4:42 / km

I ran home through a bit of Rock Creek and met up with the family at home.

Cross-Training 50:00 [1]

A "hill" session on the elliptical at Blair House while watching Westworld. Creepy show, but intriguing.

Cross-Training 35:00 [1]

Elliptical at work at lunchtime.

PT 25:00 [1]

Strength workout.

I watched Vice's documentary on the events in Charlottesville this past weekend. It left me shaken and wondering whether I am living in the same country that gave me and my family generous and welcoming asylum in 1992. These feel like scary times. Running 45:34 [2] 7.95 km (5:44 / km) +124m 5:19 / km
shoes: 2013 Asics White+Blue

Running from home in a very wet, muddy, and foggy Rock Creek Park. Access to the park from the new apartment is excellent - I was at the trailhead after 6:23 of running. And unlike from Columbia Heights, the part of the park I get into here is the wider park, with a greater variety of trails to choose from. I like it. The only downside is the distance to the zoo.

The run itself was pretty good. Started out feeling clunky and slow, but felt better as it went on. Back and hip flexor got tight around 30 minutes, but did not get worse after that.
