Running 20:00 [2]

Warmup and cooldown

Orienteering race 1:18:42 [4] 9.8 km (8:02 / km)

Georgia Navigator Cup - Day 2 - Blue Classic distance

I apparently started too fast, as 3 of my best 4 splits according to AP split analysis were controls 1,3, and 4 and I was even leading the race after three legs. Oops. I managed another solid race (35 seconds of mistakes according to AP), though felt like my speed and focus faded some at the end. It was a fun course with two distinct parts - one in the usual ridge and valley terrain, and one taking us through the rocky sections that brought back pleasant memories of the 2012 US Champs / Team Trials here.

I ended up 2nd again, 9 minutes behind Greg.

Running 15:00 [2]

Decent warmup, including the course on the model map.

Orienteering race 33:10 [4] 4.9 km (6:46 / km)

Georgia Navigator Cup - Day 1 - Blue Middle distance

Alli and I did split starts so we could take turns watching Inara, so I started first this time. I really enjoyed this middle distance course in fun, fast terrain that was reminiscent of some of the nicer QOC areas - parts of Fountainhead, Oregon Ridge, Turkey Run Ridge.

I felt fairly strong and pretty confident in my orienteering most of the way. AP shows my biggest mistake as being the finish chute... From the split analysis, it looks like I lost a bit of time on 3 (stopping short and not seeing the flag) and 16 (not aggressive enough through the green?), but a very solid race overall. Unlike at QOC events in similar terrain, GAOC tucked the flags in so they were not visible until you were at the feature. I think this was the right call for this high-visibility terrain, but it took me a few controls to get the hang of it.

My best leg was 11 where my route through the field was faster than running around on trails. I finished 43 sec/km behind Greg, which I am very pleased with.

Afterwards, lots of splashing around in puddles with Inara and Lucas while waiting for moms to finish

Cross-Training 1:15:00 [3]

A tough Peloton workout today. I did a hill climb that certainly made me work (and sweat) hard for the duration of the workout. (Instructor: Jennifer Jacobs)

Cross-Training 30:00 [3]

A partial Peloton workout at the Blair House gym. Cut short by the welcome arrival of Gail and PG. Great to see them and catch up, as they were traveling back north from Georgia.
