Tim and Sasha said they were entering this so thought I might as well tag along and see what's what. Little expectation after the Arrochar, Saunders combo so was hopeful for a nice route and to enjoy a good bit of racing.
Went pretty steady up the first climb, chatting to a guy from Huddersfield about how I really needed a pee but am incapable of peeing on the run. Pace from the front was hot on the road at the bottom but after a while it didn't seem they were getting too far away. Didn't nail the descent but it had a few boggy bits so was able to overtake a few people. Long flat-ish section was as expected a drag but the views weren't that great either and there was an annoying amount of road. Gained a couple of places and lost a few here but wasn't in the mood for grinding away too hard with the prospect of Snowdon ahead. Big climb seemed to go on for a hell of a long time and I headbutted lots of tourists, but I climbed okay and overtook 5 people, mainly because they were dying. Big boost having Sasha running with me for the end of the climb too. Just before the top I had some pangs of cramp in my calf which was a little worrying. Start of the final descent was okay and the path looked surprisingly rapid. As the descent went on though my legs were getting v sore and cramp pangs were becoming more frequent. This combined with a nasty stitch meant I was unable to move very quickly and was suffering quite a lot, so I lost 5 places to the finish (but sadly overtook Tim who was in an even worse state). Frustrating as would've been lovely to be able to smash that descen,t but oh well, good bit of experience even if the race wasn't the nicest.
