Woke up feeling feeling annoyingly coldy so sacked off the pre race jog for a bit more sleep. Got to the start line still not feeling the best and it had nicely started tipping it down. My aims had fallen to pretty much getting round. Start of the race was good fun running with the masses, after a few minutes the guy ahead of me took a little tumble and I followed suit but managed to save it to just a bit of a footy knee slide. Then from here I slowly worked my way through for the first two big laps, wasn't especially strong on the steep climbs but seemed to make places on the downs. In general I was having a very grim but surprisingly fun time. Also lost three spikes on the harder surface in the woods on the first lap meaning I only had two spikes in one of the shoes which probably wasn't ideal but I didn't really notice tbh. Third lap was even more muddy and grim, didn't make many more places but nice knowing the end was near. Content with the run given the less than ideal prep and feeling beforehand.
