Note

Sooo, the last couple of weeks hasn't really gone to plan training-wise, not that I have much of a plan, but if I did, it definitely wouldn't go like this. I got my stitches out last Thursday(24/1) at the doctors and they thought it looked a little infected so I was put on some oral antibiotics, which was fine, I had kind of expected that might be the case. Then Big Weekend happened, which all ran seamlessly-ish thanks to some excellent organisation, however, on the Sunday after popping some controls out in the morning and a long day on the feet, the knee really started to flare up as the day went on. By late evening on Sunday, the knee had swollen up to about the size of Tim Morgan's head, and I was in enough pain to consider an A&E visit. Called A&E and they said the waiting time was at least 3 hours, so then called NHS 24, who after a long wait, informed me that I should be alright to wait until tomorrow.

Went to the doctors on Monday, which was a very brief trip, where they told me to grab an overnight bag and then go to A&E. After a few tests, a few examinations, a X-ray, and a lot of waiting, I was told I most likely had cellulitis, an infection to the skin, and would need to stay overnight where I would be put on an IV drip.

Initially, I was told I might have to have surgery but after switching to a different antibiotic, which just got pumped into me 3 times a day, the swelling and redness started to decline, so luckily no knife for me. Got out of hospital on Thursday after spending 3 nights there. My time in the hospital wasn't the most fun in the world, but it was made a lot easier by many visitors, a massive cake, and friendly nurses, so thanks to all for that.

Knee recovery has been very good last few days, you can pretty much see the shape of the kneecap now and the redness is completely gone. My brain is getting to the point where the knee is function-able enough to consider running again but I should be able to contain that for at least a few more days. I would very much like to run Carnethy5 next Saturday but will just have to see how the recovery goes.

Anyway, I have lots of uni work to catch up on so sorry to myself and to you for dropping this unnecessary essay here.
