Hunters Bog Trot
Exciting bit of racing on the Seat. Started up the bog and straight away a group of four formed at the front consisting of myself, Timbo, Alex Hinchcliffe (the vegan man who beat me at parkrun last month), and Tom Martyn. Tom went ham as soon as it got steep which was a bit disconcerting, then the climb up the crags felt grim and I was slightly off the back but the pack didn't spread out too much. Things changed once we started going down the crags and by the bottom Timbo was in the lead, followed by myself, with the others a little behind. I cheekily snuck past Tim up the Dasses (or the Wang or whatever you wanna call it) and Tom had caught back up. I just managed to get to the top just ahead of Tom, before a fun descent down Purkos, though me leggies were feeling bamboozled. Going up the bog again was horrendous but luckily I think everyone was feeling similar and I was relieved to see I had a bit of a gap to Tim before the final climb. Delightful grind on in to the finish from there.

Meadows session with Dan and Tim. Not feeling like the keenest bean for this one, as usual, but fortunately the legs were still moving okay. Ended up with:

Lap tempo, 2x ~1km, 2x ~400m, lap tempo (recoveries all random).

Dan Stans 400m pace is quite remarkable. Time for lap was almost the same both times so that was nice, even if the gps says I cut a massive corner second time round..

Nice Meadows and Seat lap with a big group, legs feeling quite good but general tired feels.

Would love to smash some big mileage now but sadly have first exam on Monday so unsure how rampant the training will be.

JK Relay
Good run from Carcy sent me right out in the mixer. Had a solid start but Matt had already caught me on the way to 4 and was motoring. I made a little miss on 5 which let Matt get ahead. Popped into the open to 7 and could see Matt, Shminty and Thornton ahead. Gaffling through 8-10 mixed things up, caught Ali at 8 then Shminty at 10, with Jackland just ahead but never saw Matt again. Pretty good from there to the finish, desperately trying to get away from Shminty as much as possible but legs were feeling a little popped after the hill at spectator. Nice run from Jonny secured as 2nd spot so very happy with that, would've said my first team days were over before this weekend. Definitely my best JK race wise and had a good time.
