gently jog with Kylie, same as Wed. Ankle felt a little crappy at first but warmed into it well. was quite good by the end.

no real port hangover either.

didnt feel great in the water and was a hot 25m pool, and they suck.

then day got worse...

Pretty happy. Need I say more... did get a stitch 8 min in to a jog and was pretty tired after 10min, but that misses the point. I ran.


Started on the doctor prescribed anti-inflammatories yesterday. Up til then I had not taken any, partly a result of reading about inflammatory response and the good things that the protease calpain does (guess what I am measuring in the lab). but definitely decided that while acute inflammation is there for a good reason, chronic inflammation is not good.

ankle is really not happy after trying to run Saturday

didnt feel good in the water at all.

spent earlier in the day watching a kayak meet, Big Dave was right, it's not that exciting. Still mace and I enjoyed it and glad we went and checked out another sport.

At Mac Uni Pool

Bit annoying as main pool was closed due to water polo games so had to swim laps in indoor 25m pool. I cooked, but felt like I was swimming ok.

ride to meet Sunday morning long run group and back via Deli Marco.

Saturday Feb 16

ride to Farmers Markets and back with Mace via Yellow Sub and general long route.

More than I had planned but ankle really felt fine. it swells after though and i cant work on stetching cos of the swelling. must try to do more stretching before i do any exercise

Swimming in the disgusting Dicko pool with Mace. Limited kicking at first as was pretty unsure about ankle but by the end kicking reasonably well although would back off a bit at times as it would get tired and a bit sore.

felt suprisingly good swimming

pretty pumped, first ride since surgery!

took it fairly easy, and followed up with some ankle mobility, stretching. start some strength stuff on sunday

Earlier saw Doc and had stitches out. All good. Said cut bone spur out (anterior distal end of tibia i think causing anterior impingement)
Likely to get a bit grumpy with some activity as putting the scope in damages the synovium. not really a big issue, just some soft tissue that needs to heal and can get grumpy with activity in the mean time.

Plan is to build up strength over next few weeks. Daily mobility and strengthening work, and ride and swim for a week. in 2nd week (lets say next Sat, ie 9 days more) can consider very light, flat surface jogs.

Think I over did it. Ankle hurt whenver I walked on it after a rest and some noticeable re-bruising.
