Well this was interesting. Felt good and ready to go even though I was cold I was determined to race this well. I was told that as long as I followed the lit path there was no way I could get lost. You can imagine my annoyance when I came across a fork in the path where there were 2 lit paths to choose from. Anyways I ended up choosing the one that looked the most lit for some reason that was my rationale at the time. So we dragged Jeff away from the path that ended up being the right way to go. Sorry Jeff! Actually feel that I was having the best race. Everything seemed to be falling it to place and I felt like I was very strong and attacking well. I knew where I was in the last K and knew when we would be back at the chalet and thought in my head that it was 5K. Got back to the lodge and gave it everything I had in that last K. Was on the ground and had emptied the tank. However looking around I was puzzled as to why Derek and the other guys were not back yet haha. That's when they told us that we had missed a big chunk of the course. The most important big hill. So annoying. So the young guys and Paige dashed off into the woods to complete the part we had missed. I got up and decided to go with them with about zero motivation to do so. Somewhere around the big hill I had stumbled on some ice and rolled my ankle. It was in shock so I decided to basically shut er' down and walk/yog back to the chalet. So I just walked up the hill to the chalet in the dark feeling sorry for myself and Kip was just standing there laughing at me lol and then gave me a fist pump. Oh well..I think I did a really good job of running the actual part I raced. Looking back I think it was quite the fun adventure we had out there.
