This was fun! Glad I decided to do this! Couldn't have asked for a better day or more beautiful place to race! I did miss the girls today but the solo adventure was exciting as well. Went out strong and with the top girls... it was smooth and effortless. The course was 3 x a 2k loop which was fairly flat except for one very steep 40m uphill which was very tough for me to get over the hump at the top and was where people were passing me. I found I was making ground on a few souls in the second lap but then I seemed to just stay where I was. I remember the girls just kind of pulling me through and feeling like the legs were pretty depleted. Nothing seemed to happen when I told myself to go harder. When I crossed the line my body didn't feel exhausted as I only needed to go hands on knees but when I was out there I didn't feel I could do much more than what I did. I was disappointed with how I thought I did until I looked at my time and place and saw that it was the fastest I've run a cross race. If I can do that again for 10k I think the tank will be empty. I definitely can feel my running has changed since I first started to do cross 3 years ago. I don't finish a race feeling like I just ran a track race anymore. It's a different kind of tired. I mean I'm getting faster as seen in my race results so I guess I shouldn't worry.

Fantastic run today through Jasper. It's cold here but still resumed with shorts. Saw 2 caribou walking by the river. It was pretty neat. A runner's paradise for sure. Did some good strides and strength afterwards before packing up and making the long drive to Kelowna. Finally slept well last night after those 2 awful sleeps in Banff. This hostel was much more comfortable.

Good workout this evening. Had a long eventful day starting with a 2hour hike up Mount Sulphur in Banff with lunch at the top and a nice gondala ride down then driving to Jasper. I ended up doing this in a creepy abandoned campground. I actually had a nightmare about a similar place in a dream once so that was weird. Tempo was amazing and ran the hard stuff back and forth in a more lit up dirt field. It was totally dark by the time I got to cool gown so ran back to town on the edge of the highway. Saw 1 caribou :)

Nice chilly morning run in Banff. Not having the best sleep in these squeaky hostel beds and I'm definitely still on Thunder Bay time. Good strides at the end and did strength in the back alley of our hostel which got me some funny looks from people lol.

This was pretty good. Got onto some trails that were not designed for running fast so the first tempo set wasn't great. Decided to go onto the road to continue and then do a bit of extra stuff at the end to make up for a lousy first set. Got in some speed for fun. Banff is beautiful. Love them mountains. I now find it pretty funny that we call Mountain McKay a mountain back home.
