Thought this went well. Feel like I followed the plan for today. Went out at off day effort for the first lap. Picked it up to tempo for the second lap. Then the 3rd lap got tough from the start and was pushing it to chase down Jeff the whole time and finally caught him with about 1k to go. I felt like I was sprinting with everything I had in the last mile and emptied the tank to the end. Was on the ground. Happy with my execution of this. Found it tough to breath out there today. The footing didn't really bother me that much as it actually forced me run with a better turn over than usual. If I had to do anything differently it would be to maybe get in deeper a bit earlier than on the third lap. However once I was in deep I was in deep.

Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

30 min Barefoot Run around the Turf

Was too chicken to go outside in the cold and I figured some extra barefoot stuff wouldn't hurt. Felt light and speedy today. Best running at the end.

45 mins Express Moksha

To warm up I decided to go do some hot yoga today. Felt good. Was a pretty easy class but happy I did it regardless. Was in some need of some gentle long stretching and some glut strengthening.

I thought this went really well today. Put the cold weather and the fact that I'd raced yesterday aside and got the most out of this. Attacked each minute without thinking about how much of the workout I had left. The easy recovery between was pretty slow but I made it really tough for it not to be. At the end I was barely able to jog and had my hands on my hips for a bit. Good effort today.

Well this was interesting. Felt good and ready to go even though I was cold I was determined to race this well. I was told that as long as I followed the lit path there was no way I could get lost. You can imagine my annoyance when I came across a fork in the path where there were 2 lit paths to choose from. Anyways I ended up choosing the one that looked the most lit for some reason that was my rationale at the time. So we dragged Jeff away from the path that ended up being the right way to go. Sorry Jeff! Actually feel that I was having the best race. Everything seemed to be falling it to place and I felt like I was very strong and attacking well. I knew where I was in the last K and knew when we would be back at the chalet and thought in my head that it was 5K. Got back to the lodge and gave it everything I had in that last K. Was on the ground and had emptied the tank. However looking around I was puzzled as to why Derek and the other guys were not back yet haha. That's when they told us that we had missed a big chunk of the course. The most important big hill. So annoying. So the young guys and Paige dashed off into the woods to complete the part we had missed. I got up and decided to go with them with about zero motivation to do so. Somewhere around the big hill I had stumbled on some ice and rolled my ankle. It was in shock so I decided to basically shut er' down and walk/yog back to the chalet. So I just walked up the hill to the chalet in the dark feeling sorry for myself and Kip was just standing there laughing at me lol and then gave me a fist pump. Oh well..I think I did a really good job of running the actual part I raced. Looking back I think it was quite the fun adventure we had out there.

This was actually pretty decent! Had such a long day of travelling and not sleeping the entire night last night. I had gotten off the ferry in Vancouver at around 11pm Saturday night and saw there to be no reason to get a hotel as I had to be at the airport before 5am. This gave me the idea of going to Wal-mart to get some food and then sleeping in my car in the parking lot. I thought it would be an adventure. Turns out it was a bad idea and next time I will definitely just go straight to the airport. I was freezing and all I could hear was rats scurrying around my car the entire night since I was in downtown Vancouver. I also became super scared whenever I heard someone walking around outside. At about 3am I had decided I'd had enough and got out of there to go to the airport. Anyways basically conked right out for all three flights that day as I only remember the landings for each of them. Got home and my family had wanted to hear all about my trip so chatted with them for a while. Then I got going on my long run. Just ran from my house to the old fort and took a wider detour back. Pretty flat run so I was really moving. Not sure why I felt so good on this. Good strength and stuff afterwards in my basement.
