Hiking 1:28:00 [3] 4.6 mi (19:08 / mi)

Short hike on the west side of the park. Not nearly as epic as the main canyon area.

Mtn Biking (Single Track) 1:49:15 [3] 13.1 mi (8:20 / mi)

Rode a few different trails on the JEM Trail system near Virgin, Utah.

Mtn Biking (Slick Rock) 2:30:16 [3] 10.4 mi (14:27 / mi)

Drove a few miles up the road, then to the top of a mesa to do some slick rock mtn biking. That was the hardest mtn biking i've ever done in my life. It must be an acquired skill to get up, over, and down some of that stuff as I was off that bike more than I'd like to admit........ However, getting hurt again this year was not on my agenda, so I took it easy on the tougher stuff.

Canyoneering 6:30:00 [3] 6.0 mi (1:05:00 / mi)

Out in the east canyons for about 6 and a half hours, rappelling 8 descents and finished off with a 425ft ascent back to the top of the mesa, then hiked back to the truck. Our guide was awesome. He taught us so much about ropes, rappelling, ascending, problem solving, deciding what kind of rappel to do, etc. We set up all but one rappel (with supervision of course). Although he showed us how to do it, he set up the "fiddle stick" around a tree so we could retrieve our rope.

This is something I've wanted to do out in Zion ever since the first time I was there. Happy Birthday to me :)

Note

A billion miles of walking already. Airports, conference centers, hotels......... ugh. 2.5 more days of this. Even in comfortable shoes it's tough on the feet.
