Orienteering race 1:42:00 [5] 18.5 km (5:31 / km) +350m 5:02 / km
shoes: VJ Bold

Blodslitet. 3rd place, +0:12s... I think I'll take that!

Pretty solid race with maybe 30s tops of mistakes.
Loop 1 was fairly steady, avoid the panic of the mass start and get in a good group at the front and just chill for a little bit. The advice I'd been given was run steady, don't make mistakes and be aware of the others around you. Got through the first section ok. At one point everyone disappeared (other than Simon Imark) but that was the forking.

Came to the first map exchange a little down on the other group, thats ok, slowly reel them back in. We did that and ran on, I could see that our gaffle was shorter this time around so we were in a good position to take the lead if we could keep it error free!

Came through to the final loop in what I thought was the leading group of me, Simon Imark and Victor Imark. Turns out that Isaac von kurisentina was ahead unknown to us!! We kept it clean, error free but not particularly fast! This meant that according to the GPS the chasing group got within 20s of us! (but thankfully never saw us!) they were running faster but were a lot more scrappy and missing lots of the controls.

Smashed the final section, outta nowhere Isaac comes crashing down from behind us after he missed a control slightly letting us catch him. This is going to be a mad Sprint finish! Just as I thought that the tops of my calves cramped up like mad! So so so sore but I had to push on over the last 1000m so slightly altered my running tech and forgot about it. Last control, just 2/3s down on the leaders and started to sprint... Ouch ouch ouch ouch my calves seized up so badly!! Luckily Victor Imark had hit the wall earlier so I was able to crawl to the finish, pretty gutted it wasn't my fitness or my mentality that let me down but my muscles but also absolutely cheesing because I'd smashed a whole load of top athletes!! :D

Had some fun in the forest. Didn't go for too long or too hard due to the Blodslitet tomorrow!

Cycling 1:30:00 [3]

Cycling and mapping and stuff.

Running intervals 8:38 [4] 2.15 km (4:01 / km)
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 5

Intervals!

50m hurdle followed by jog back followed by 50m 95% sprint followed by jog back.
Did the above 6 times, break of a minute, 5 times... then felt tired and went to do an easier session with Joe who wasn't feeling it to night either.

Running intervals 9:19 [4] 2.52 km (3:42 / km)
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 5

400m on, 400m off. x 3

On times were: 75s, 71s, 68s so a cheeky progression.

S & C 30:00 [3]

10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 of the following:
Star jumps
Sit ups
Press ups
Burpees
Leg kicks
Trunk curls
30s plank
10s running on the spot

Good stuff, on my way to getting massive (hopefully).

Recovery run with Mikey. Hit the seat... It got a bit dark towards the end which made things interesting!

Relay race JEC

Poor start, good finish. Happy with this performance.

The way this went was that I was going fine to #1 until everyone started punching a control I wasn't really expecting to see... Completely threw me thinking I'd already missed my gaffel and stopped for a bit. After realising I still wasn't quite at my control I went on but was a reasonable amount down on the leaders and Dan up infront.

I slowly reeled the train back in pushing pretty hard and really riding the edge of doing well and doing awefully... Ended up managing to hold it together and slowly but surely caught Dan and the front of the pack. Then came the long massive hill we all knew was coming at some point - the field strung out a little bit and I could almost see the boys at the front!

The last loop was fast and furious - my highlight bringing when the Swiss boy next to me couldn't handle the pace we were running at and keeled over for a rest. Despite the stitch I was feeling it was so close to the end and I had a lot of adrenaline pumping through so went around and managed to bring it home in 5th!! :) on the combined M20/18 leg I think I'll take that - beat all the Swedes which was an added bonus too ;)
